Default FS: TXS UTEC rev. 6b

I would prefer to sell this locally, so I'll give you guys first shot at it before I post in the general for sale forum. You can pick it up either in Abbotsford or at my work in Burnaby.

This is the latest version UTEC (rev. 6b) with 4.2 firmware and will work on any wrx 02+. It was used only a few months so is in perfect condition. It includes all the little bits and pieces it originally came with as well as the remote map switch. If you would like to see pics email me at "s dot ireland @ shaw dot ca".

I'm asking C$950 picked up. Best price I could find on a new one works out to $1500 when you factor in exchange, shipping, taxes and brokerage fees.

The UTEC is easy to install and program, but if you're unsure about using one, a good idea would be to download the manual from the TXS website:

www.turboxs.com/_images/UTEC/Updatewrx/UTEC%20User%20Manual%204.2.pdf

not right

you add this to the ECU.... so basically plug the OEM ECU cables onto the UTEC and plug the UTEC cables onto the OEM ECU

after you hook it on? do you still have to program it or it will do it by itself?
or it is just a standard tune for all impreza?

and what is the performance gain?

Hi Cata, the power of the UTEC is your ability to completely control boost, fueling and timing. Above the throttle cross-over setpoint, the UTEC takes control from the stock ECU and allows you to make more power by increasing boost pressure and/or leaning fuel mixture and/or increasing timing advance. The stock ECU continues to control the mundane tasks of startup and closed loop fuel control.

It's possible to extract about 30hp more from a stock car. Once you start to modify the car with free-flowing exhaust and/or bigger turbo etc. you really need a way to tune the car to extract the maximum benefit from your upgrades. For example with just a 3" exhaust and up-pipe, the UTEC would allow you to get around 280hp.

The TurboXS website has staged maps that you can download and install on the UTEC to match your modifications, from none to wild. To extract maximum benefit, you would still need to tune these maps further because they are set up to run very rich to begin with. You can get lots of help here on NASIOC in the engine management forum while learning to tune, or you could have someone like Patrick Richard in Squamish tune it for you.

Hope this answers your Q's... let me know.

Steve.
