Default Newbie Q. Is it possible to have 17inch wheels (front) and 18inch wheels (rear)

As subject stated, is it possible to have this setup in a 2003 WRX?
just curious any pros cons? Thanks in advance!

Curious as to why it wouldn't work so long as the overall circumference of all tires is still within spec of each other(1/8 inch IIRC)?

They'll work IF the "overall circumference of all tires is still within spec of each other(1/8 inch IIRC)."

For performance type I think you'd want some more thread up front. Either that or run different offsets front and rear to create different front and rear track.

The C4S has different width 18x8 front and 18x11 rear and of couse different tires. As long as the diameter is +/- 0.10" or better you should be okay.

A thread a few days ago hit on this.

Yes 911's have different sized rims yes you can put different sized tires front and rear. Some people have race setups like this.

However you must match the DIAMETER of the two tires. And in order to make sure the diameter of the tires is same do not use a tire size calculator. Use the specs from the manufacturer because the sizes a tire is sold in is just roughly it's actual size.

As for doing this on a WRX my only question is Why???

Also, if the weight was off by more than a little, it could cause problems with the center diff trying to compensate....

I believe this may be an exercise in determining the failure point of some part of the drivetrain.......so don't, unless ya got lots of $$$$

Yeah...I have to ask...why?

Too much margin for error with the possibility of different diameters and different weights. The diffs won't like either.

If the tire sizes are mismatched it borks the AWD system, that difference has to be displaced in some means of force, ie friction, ie wear. Dont do it, I believe this is covered in the manual.
