Default 05 wrx stiffer than 03 wrx?

well I just picked up my 05 WRX on friday and after driving just over 500 miles since then, I have noticed that the car feels a lot stiffer than my old 03 wrx which I also bought new. I am not aware of the struts/springs needing any kind of break in period to loosen up. I am not complaining about this as the handling and road feel is amazing, I was just wondering if I am crazy or someone else felt the difference or knows something I dont? I faintly remember something in the suspension being changed in 04 but I am not positive and cant seem to dig up the info...

The 04 and 05 WRXs have multi-phase strut valving.

Isn't stiffer better for handling the car?

Yes it handles noticeably better than my 03, sacrafices a bit of ride quality but who cares about that when you can slide around a corner at 70

Spring rates are unchanged as far as I know. The strut valving is greatly improved; I have heard unconfirmed rumors that some of the suspension bushings and bits are a bit stiffer as well, taking out some of the slop.

Great info, thanks a lot! I was going to say "wow my WRX feels like the STi I test drove" but I was afraid I would get flamed... haha

Weitek,
I am not sure that the WRX struts in '05 are inverted; I think that only applies to the UK and Japanese model cars and not the US cars.

As long as the '05 struts are not from an STi then yes it should bolt right up. There may be a possibility of some tophat incompatibility however that shouldn't be hard to work out.
