Subaru Stars I found a factory remote starter on my 98 2.5RS...some questions

Like the title states, I have the factory keyless entry on my 98 2.5RS. I accidentally realized I had it by the car starting when I was messing around with the key fob. I realized what I did... lock, unlock, HOLD lock until it beeps. However, some times the car doesnt start. Can someone tell me the correct way to remote start the car? Is there a certain button or combo to push? Thanks in advanace. I only ask because sometimes it doesnt start when I do the above combo. Thanks

There is no such thing as a factory remote start for your car. It has to be an aftermarket alarm/starter that was installed by the dealer or afterward by a shop.

Typically you have to hold both buttons on aftermarket remote starters.

It is probably an aftermarket remote start module linked to the factory keyless entry module's auxilury output. Why don't you take a picture of your remote and post it up here, that might give us a better idea how to make it start every time. It may also just be a low remote battery or a button going bad on the remote. There's lots of possibilities of why it won't start every time.
