Default 92 Legacy Climate control question?

I have a 92 Legacy.

The design of the climate control is: I can only have air recirculation ON with MAX AC button only. THis is a bad idea because I need to use the dirty lincoln tunnel very often. In the winter, I cannot turn on the heater (Directed to the floor) because I'm usually stuck behind many polluted buses. Is there anyway I can fabricate a switch that allows me to choose air recirculation ON or OFF independently?

You can turn on AC max and move the heater lever to hot and it'll blow heat and recirc.

To get the recirc to work, you'd have to modify the programing in the electronics.

Do you have a wiring diagram? It shouldn't really be that hard to rig a switch to trigger the recirculation actuator independently.

Yes, but doing this only allows hot air directed to your face, not the floor. I want complete control over airflow.
