i don't know

Default Fender Rolling

Just wondering about fender rolling...

If i get my fenders rolled, will the plastic wheel well lining have to come out permanently?

can it be modified to stay in?
risks of leaving it out?
whats behind there anyway?

i have a 2000 model..

i have rota tarmacs on 215/55/17 kuhmo's and all 4 corners show signs of rubbing, no so bad in the front, but very noticable in the rear over large bumps and when people sit in the back.

wheel offset is +48.. stock suspension so far, should be stock alignment.

55 profile seems a little large to me for 17" wheels on a gc, unless thats a typo?
cause my rs has 205/55/16(stock), so i'm not sure how you'd keep that large of a profile tire
EDIT(i'm running sti pink springs, and sti struts)

as for rolling fenders and leaving in the insert thing, it really a matter of how far
you roll the fender back, i rolled my rears, and took out the inserts, i still have them,
just not on the car

Juhmn. Thanks for your help. I would like to keep the inserts. They make the ride alot quieter.

That's the wrong size tire. You want a 215/45/17. You've increased the diameter of the tire so you'll definitely be more likely to rub, and your speedo will show slower than the speed your travelling.

That being said, if you get your fenders rolled, you'll need to removed the plastic liner. No big deal. I have my fenders rolled and I haven't had the lines on for 2+ years. No problems at all. Just make sure you get the fenders rolled by a reputable shop that knows what they're doing and has all the right tools.

Why does everyone think fender rolling is the devil? If you do it correctly (heat gun and roller tool) it is easy and everything fits.

That fender liner does nothing but trap dirt, take it off.

No...He's not talking about the WHOLE fender liner being removed, just the little plastic trim that goes on the inside lip of the fender.

- like others had pointed out, 215/55/17 is the wrong size. You need 215/45/17

- Once the plastic insert is removed, you wont be able to put it back after you rolled the fender

- I have a 00 RS with Rota and 215/45/17 ES100 (wide for 215) and I do not rub on stock suspension

i'm the thread starter..

somebody at the tirerack recommended 55 aspect ratio.. conversation went something like:

T-"we dont really recommend 50 aspects, its a little too small"
me - "ok what about 55 aspects"
T- "thats a little too big"
me -" umm. ok, what would you go with?"
T-" 55"

(this is very paraphrased)

now i am wiser.

i have ContiExtreme's to put on the wheels now, 205/45-17 , i guess i'll see what happens.

someone somewhere mentioned one of the problems may be that Rota's are desgned for the WRX, not RS. Meaning that Rota's all come in +48mm offset, when the RS should have +53mm offset. any truth here?

also. anybody have pics of their fenders rolled? like from the inside so we can see what actually happens?

you should be running a 225-45-17 tire or 235/40/17.. that 55 series tire is too tall.
