Default blue neon bar in my sti hood scoop

I saw this somewhere and it looked really well done and different. I guess its the ricer in me that decided i wanted to do it. I have an STi hood scoop and want to mount a bar of blue neon in there. I figured out that the bar has to be about 9-10 inches long. Can someone help me out with ideas for mounting and wiring? Also what i should use to turn it off and on. Please dont hate for this little rice idea.

Just go to autozone and buy one, run wires into your car and use a switch. Whats so tough about figuring that out?

I always thought that hoodscoop was begging for a sharkmouth...

Just on the sides, y'know, like an old P40.

"neon in the hoodscoop" and "good idea" should never be in the same sentance. it would look terrible.

its been done, and pic's have been posted, it looks stupid. I assume that was the joke the poster of the 'idea' was making.

I'm not going to chime in with my personal opinion given that there are plenty already.

Subjective opinion & legal considerations aside, I'd worry about the neon bar from not being able to last long because of the heat cycling it has to endure when mounted in that location. I'm not familiar with neon bars, but if it has any plastic components, I'd chose those with good, thick thermosetting plastic instead of thin &/ thermoplastic material. That way the bar won't melt and fall off.

Also, if the neon bars work the same way fluorescent lights do, I'd make sure that the high voltage circuitry is well insulated. After all, the hood scoop will introduce a lot of water to the neon bar.

If I were to mount one, I'd make something similar to a DIY hood scoop splitter, and then have tabs on the splitter where the neon bar can be bolted onto. That should be simple enough.

Wiring would run on the inner side of the engine hood, probably between the hood and the oem insulation material.

I'm not sure what you mean about what to use "to turn it on and off". Wouldn't neon bar kits come equipped with a switch?
