Anybody try this with a newer GR WRX? I am having hard time identifying grounding points as the engine looks different. Any images you might have will be of great help. Thanks!

Just wanted to say thanks to Davenow and others that have contributed to the thread up to now. Did this yesterday on my wagon. Went ahead and built mine with 4 AWG OFC, since that is all I had and didn't want to wait another week for 8 AWG to show up and it seems like 8 AWG ring connectors are more difficult to find than 4 AWG connectors. I also did "The Big 3" as well. The positive wiring needs to be redone at the battery connector a little since I cut the 0 AWG intermediary wire a little long and ran out of room. Anyway, here are the pics.

All you need is a ground from the engine to the negative post of the battery, and another one on the passenger side of the motor to the strut tower.

those dont really do anything

tried it....didnt do ****

and NEVER--EVER use the strut top mount studs for grounds....they are VERY bad grounds...like non-grounds, really

I beg to differ. After I did this mod the car was less "jerky" crawling in 1st & 2nd while in bumper to bumper traffic, and the idle just felt smoother.

And as for grounding at the strut tower, I did not use a top mount stud location...I used one of the side bracket nuts. My meter showed it was a good ground point.

I don't care what anyone says, I felt a difference with my grounding mod. Did I gain horse power or gas mileage...of course not. But my engine does seem to run smoother in the lower gears, and my set up cost me only about $10.

If I'm not mistaken the newer Subaru's engines are grounded out underneath from the valve cover to the chassis. I could be wrong but I believe I saw them on the Legacy's but I'm not dealership tech so I havent seen alot of them.

Have you actually seen the grounding points on newer Subarus?

Not only do the stock weak a$$ ground straps (wires actually) sit right on the painted surface...even the bolt hole threads are coated with either paint or primer.

Sounds like the first order of business should be cleaning the stock grounds, which is something I still need to do.

Back from the dead..
Anyone know if these are the oem grounding points on an 07 2.5i?
Driver side right below the torque box

On the firewall passenger side next to the engine mount

and on the passenger side intake manifold

If they are I figure I'd clean em up a bit and see if it helps any before doing any more.
Right now I just have some bucking when letting of the gas at low speeds thats really irritating in parking lots that would be nice to get rid of..
Thanks in advance
