Default BIG bust on friday

this was friday night around 12:30 AM. 300 cars piled into the little truck stop area known as junction. The drag races started and as the people cheered 10 milpitas police squad cars bursted out of nowhere. They trapped all 300 vehicles in side the illegal race track. All drivers recieved tickets and passengers recieved written warnings. If they ever return and get caught they would recieve a 1000 dollar fine and a night in jail.

You guys think this will stop the tradition of illegal drag racing? Will generations after us know what they were? To me i think it will never end, bust after bust they will never opress the racing hearts of the young or mid aged adults.

With all this money they spend on task forces and busts they could of built us a track a long time ago. There are many that support this idea and many that dont. Whats your input guys?

Yeah, that's about right.

Hmmm ... 300 cars times maybe $100 in average ticket revenues each.... you could start financing a track, or pay for the officers' year end bonus.

That sucks man. Obviously they didn't understand the part of The Fast and The Furious where the big bust was a *set-up* intended to make their guy look good...

hey, that's enuff to stop me from going, especially with TFATF out, it's been crazy. just FYI the races never began in milpitas, if you go back enuff you'll find out they used to be in fremont untill the cops became vicious, pulling over any civic with kids in it. IMHO i'm not going to risk a ticket and a night in jail just to watch civics run, and maybe the occasional "real" cars. who knows wut they do with ur car when it's impounded (i know there's legal issues involved, but alot of cops don't see straight)

btw, i've seen other scoobies out there, but do n e of you actually run?

yeah i do sometimes but not where there are a lot of people. I dont waste my time on civics and stuff like that i race other awd cars like gsx's and talon tsi's. The weekend races are just a big car show for the rookie highschooler racers. The real nights of racing are on mondays and wendsdays. People go out there to race not watch.

a little OT, but relevant: are bay area cops using some sort of encoding/encrypting for their radio transmissions? If not, why don't they just monitor the freqs?
Just wondering what the airwave situation is around here.

Thumbs up

All I can say is "Too bad it was only 300 cars and that the Gestapo only handed out tickets."

Should've impounded every car that had participated in a speed contest!

Street racers should get busted. They're endangering lives.

Plus, illegal racing just makes it tougher on car enthusiasts that aren't breaking the law. Cops watch us even closer, insurance for the type of car I drive goes up, laws are put into effect making it even more difficult to modify my car.

Because of crap like this, now, if a group of car enthusiasts get together, neighbors get scared, and call the cops.

Some say that its only a risk to those willing to take part in the races, but its not. You never know when an innocent passerby might get in the way. And even if you do f#ck yourself up racing, that means your insurance, (if you have any) won't cover your medical costs and your disabillity ends up being paid for out of taxes I pay.

Illegal racers just ruin it for the rest of us so you'll get no pity from me. If you can afford $10k in mods, then you can afford the fees at a track.

Enjoy your car, just do it responsibly.

the police have been laying the smack down on the runs for about 3 or 4 weeks now. When they first started they were using helicopters to find the runs. I was going to go about 2 weeks ago but i called my friend and he said not to b/c he just got arrested. I went last weekend after tfatf and that got busted up pretty quick too.

Hahahahahahaha i was there this friday and i saw every one get busted. i just dont get the people who go there every weekend and see the cops busting everyone and still go to the same tracks the next week, why cant they go to different plases to race? there is alot of near by cities that have nice 1/4 mile stretches of road. i know that all i go to the races for is to show off my car and not race however it would be nice to do a couple of runs against a Talon.
