Default 245-35-17s question

i saw a post here (cant find it) about a 245-35-17 tire, not the azeni....id rather have the wider tire w/ low profile than the azeni if it can deliver the grip...let me know plz

also, when people stuff a 245 on a 17" wheel, is there any drawbacks? like, compared to 225s?

what exactly is your question?

The Azenis does not now and will not in the near future come in 245/35R17.

I think you're refering to the Falken GR Beta FK-451. Tom Hoppe won the auto-x National Championship in STX on the FK-451.

Drawbacks with a 245's on a 17" wheel? It depends on how wide the wheel is. The 245/40-17 Kumho MXs and 245/45-17 Azeinis will fit on the 17x7.5 STi wheels. In both cases, the sidewalls are visibly pinched in. The drawback is you're decreasing the contact patch because you're pinching in the sidewalls. This causes the tread area to bow out (like the bottom of a U).

Optimally you need a 8.5 wheel for a 245 tire. I wouldn't try squeezing a 245 on a 7" wheel.
