After the 9/11/04 Evo vs. WRX shootout - I decided to return to my roots and explore the state of Subaru performance. I find it an area which I greatly enjoy and find very mentally stimulating.

I have been working for the past few weeks with the ecutek and we have been having some great success with the new STI's.

I am working on a revised set of gears for the transmission with an Australian firm also b/c I feel the gearing is the main handicap of the STI in 1/4 performance - (having to make an extra shift to 5th to complete the run)

BTW - here is a little something I have been working on for the past week

Its a pump gas 20 psi STI with ecutek tuned by Dyno Flash

A bit laggy - but certainly fast enough to chew up 95% of the cars out there on pump gas

BTW - we have arranged the 2nd EVO vs. WRX Shootout for April 15, 2004 at Norwalk Racway in Norwalk Ohio. Exedy and Buschur will be the main sponsors

That is correct and just for information, although my home shop www.pruvenperformance.com has an in house AWD Dyno Jet dyno, we do ALL ecutek tuning on the road - ESPECIALLY with the STI. (ed ont like the way the STI's active diff reacts with lots of dyno pulls - we try to do 2 or 3 pulls per car just to verify the post tune numbers but do all the tuning on the road).

On ecutek tuning on Subarus it is super important to have the knock correction of the stock ecu fully adjusted - which can only occur after some driving. After mucsh experimentation, we determined that better results could be obtained with 2 hours of road tuning using a wideband o2 sesnor, and the data logging of the delta dash then we could get on the dyno.

Basically, what we are offering here is the same rates that other shops that do through the mail flashing on the ecutek are charging for a through the mail or base flash, and we are providing the flash installed on the spot with no fed ex charges, no down time and we give you the 2 hours of fine tuning and road testing for free with the flash.

When we do them at out home shop, we throw the car onto the dyno and give the customer a dyno sheet along with the flash.

However in this particular location that is not an option.

As an aside, in my Evo tuning business, I have done over 250 road tuned custom flashes in cities all over the USA and I never use a dyno when I am traveling to distant locations - I can expound on the reasons for that is anyone is curious.

Thanks

You always do a full-rpm run in 5th while road-tuning the STi's?

Which Hickory? Mapquest finds two (Catawba and Nash counties, I think) - about 200 miles difference between the two for me.
