Default JDM WRX motor into US WRX?

Is the US harness and ECU plug and play? I know the AVCS system will be lock in the high lift cam but what about the fuel mapping for the JDM engine? I'm onlying getting the V8 JDM EJ20 engine without harness, ECU, turbo, intercooler. What are the HP figures on JDM WRX?

I think you could get it to run, but the jdm V8 motor has different compression, injectors, and cams. I would say it would be foolish to spend $4000 on a motor and not tune it to be safe.

LOL the USDM WRX engine and the JDM are 2 different beast. If you could get it to run on the USDM ECU you wouldn't have the power or the reliability you would expect from it!!!

Get it tuned!!!!!!!!!!!

You do a search and see what you find cuase I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. How the hell you suppose to search for "V8 jdm ej20". for one thing, you can't use two letter words and another, their is lots and lots of ej20 subjects floating around (not just v8 but all versions). If anything, there should of been a sticky at some point about engine specs. Its just common sense. So please reframe from that "do a seach dumb ass" *****.

Every single question you posted up there has been gone over and over again. Search in this forum only for specs you will find them. And i don't reframe, i'm a software engineer by trade.

Ok, since its be covered over and over again, how come I don't see it? 8 pages of nothing but sti stuff and older ej20's. If you know where it is and easy for you to look it up why don't you link it to this post?

Sorry man, it happens a lot here. Freaking annoying if you ask me. You're best bet is to find a JDM ecu, as I'm pretty sure if the WRX ecu makes it run, it won't run well.

So you're getting a JDM non-STi V8 WRX motor? And putting it into your WRX? I don't know if the V8 wiring harness is any different than the V7, but the V7 is a plug and play ordeal, so if they're the same, then its plug and play. If you want AVCS, you have to run 8 extra wires, or I think ECS has an AVCS kit.

Running the JDM engine off the US ecu? No... bad idea. enough said about that.

Where did you source the motor? I'm looking for a JDM non-STi WRX motor.

You're absolutely right! You tried some incorrect search terms and got nothing... you had no choice.

There are already at least 210432174219832897543 threads pondering the possibility of swapping a JDM motor of some flavor into a WRX. Its not hard to find them. Believe it or not, not everyone can sit around and search for you. Even if the info isn't on NASIOC (which it probably is) there are always other web pages.

These can be located with the assistence of many popular "search engines" such as www.google.com.

Because your question has already been answered with helpful information.

The same questions get pretty old when they're asked ten times a week.

The ecu is plug and play... the jdm wrx does not have a high lift cam. The fuel mapping and timeing are not ideal for us gas. Are you talking about a ej205 wrx motor or a ej207 motor? Because it would be a total waste for all this work just to have avcs.

Simply put jdm wrx motor in a US wrx with a US wrx ecu running it gets you a 227 hp US wrx that cost you way too much money.

Are you maybe talking about a ver 8 jdm STi motor? With hyper-cast pistons? Large port heads? Fancy forged crank? 280+hp out of a twinscroll turbo. Not that that would matter to you... because you wouldnt have the turbo anyway. Kind of pointless to ask about hp figures for a set up that you wont have, isnt it?

You get an F in searching and Looking At The Stickys 101 you also fail. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=386462
This thread answers most of your questions and shows you the right key words to use in your search. "v8 jdm ej20" must get you a massive about of useless crap. Maybe you should try ver 8 or ver. 8 and you should spend at least some time reading all thoes other threads on ej20s. You may just learn something...

The deal is, my stock wrx engind mess up to the point of no return. so my options is to buy a US wrx engine for a low of 2,000 with over 30k miles or get a V8 JDM wrx motor without harness, intercooler, turbo, tranny with almost no miles at all for 1,700. The idea is to have my car running again, not major performace (although a SMT-6 will be used with a wideband 02 logger to tune the ecu mapping if really needed). The worries is of fuel mapping problems due to differences in the motor. Stock ECU will be used, stock harness will be used and maybe injectors too if they are the same (as the first person stated them being different).

And no you can't use ver 8 or ver. 8 because 8 is one character. Not allowed in the search engine nor v8 or any combination of that nature. And who refers different versions of engine by "ver" or "ver.", you will find that its most commonly stateds with a "V" and then the number. So what do you get doing this seach? the exact same thing!

And yes I've reading all those dam ej20 threads. Every single one of them. Didn't do jack ships for me. Sure I learn alot about ej22 and earlier ej20 motors swapped to GC8 chassis. I also learn a ship load about sti ej207 but thats does me no good to my swap.

And yes I also read the dam 101 stick but did it answer any of my questions? NO!.... All I wanted was engine specs of the JDM V8 ej20 and if it was compatable with US 2002 WRX.

So what I learn form those of you who did help me? I learn that the AVCS works with only the intake cam, the compression ratio of the jdm ej20 V8 is higher, the injectors are different (still questionable at the moment).

Thanks to those who did help me out.

The injectors are not different... they are both using the same ej205 top feeds. I dont remember the CCs...
The only differences between the two motors is the avcs, but subaru may have throw a few different things in there. They tend to do that, so you dont realy know if everything will connect right up untill you get it. More then likely it should...

How bad is your stock motor? Can it be rebuilt? Are both the heads and short block gone?

As for the search I use this. Not the forums search so I dont know about 2 word limits.
