Default Dragon Meet - January 7th - 9th

WHEN

Friday January 7th - evening
Saturday January 8th - all day
Sunday January 9th - most of the day

This meet is more of a Saturday/Sunday thing. Most of the Atlanta crew will be arriving in Robbinsville late Friday night (see below). First real gathering will be Saturday morning.

Meeting Friday night will be late if at all. With everyone rolling in at different hours (late), don't expect much in the way of a meet and greet.

Meeting will be between 9:00-9:30am Saturday. Plans are pretty open at this point, so it's hard to arrange any other meeting places. Your best bet is to make it to the hotel by 9:00am.

Sunday meeting about the same as Saturday.

WHERE

Deal's Gap / Robbinsville

Click for info on Deal's Gap - Tail of the Dragon

Click for map of Robbinsville, NC

LODGING

Room is provided for a fee by the Microtel in Robbinsville. This time of the year rooms run about $50 (single) - $60 (double) per night after taxes. If you need someone to split a room with, post up here and you'll probably find someone.

Click for information about the Microtel

For some reason, the Robbinsville Microtel website doesn't have booking abilities. However, the main Microtel website does:

http://www.microtelinn.com/

WHAT

Great mountain roads. Great people. Decent food.

MISCELLANEOUS

Bring a FRS radio tuned to channel 6.

If anybody wants a drunken subie bash Saturday night, buy the beer before you cross into the enhanced bible belt. Bring caffeine for Jason, too.

ATLANTA CREW

Departure is from TopSpeed 6:00pm in Atlanta. Jason will then lead you to some sort of an eatery.

TopSpeed
678-297-7770 (ask for Jason Porter)
2130 Brandon Trail
Alpharetta, GA 30004

BIRMINGHAM CREW

Plan to meet somewhere along I-59 (more on this shortly) at 5:30 Friday evening. I plan on grabbing food somewhere along the way - I won't have eaten anything yet.

I'd honestly rather go to Sandblast too

What's the details on the rally?

Have they updated their site yet?

Why must you go to one only? Want to split gas and hotel, nate?

I'm so not worried about it, though. Anyway he and I just talked and he should be there in January. I have two others in my car to hold me over till then.

astrotrain99, let me know if you want to caravan through ATL with me - leaving around 3-4pm that Friday. It's only 20 miles further.

Well, I'm sure the east tn guys will be tooling around up there. Personally, I'll need to try out the new oilcovers.

that sounds good (except the part about ATL traffic )

I will of course let you know 100% when it gets closer to time but I am committed as long as nothing unforeseen comes up

Hmm.. Yeah, the traffic. I've requested half the day off, so we can leave whenever.

2=3+2=5 = horrible traffic

probably best to leave at 3ish and get to this side of atlanta just before 6.

Or leave at 12 or 1 and get there around 3-4pm... hmmm

Gonna pass this time and do Sandhills. After holidays the honey do list will get decidedly longer.

Count me in too! I can leave from Childersburg around 4, probably depends on work that week, which puts me mostly beyond the traffic anyway. If you leave earlier then that, it's fine, I just need good directions since this will be my first road trip down here.

Also, if there are any other females going, I'd be up for sharing a room, otherwise I'll need a single.
