Headed in tomorrow to get the install done. Just wanted to know if there were any recommendations or horror stories or anything relavent.

Thanks-

If you are doing it yourself I suggest rust penetrant(wd40 will work). Make sure you have all your hardware and gaskets. If the exhaust has been on there for a while, a torch is nice to have, to heat up the nuts where the spring bolts are.

If you're paying someone to do it, any competent tech should be able to install an exhaust. If they can't they belong in another business.

What kind of exhaust? You didn't say. Cat back, rear section or just a muffler?

It is a custom catback exhaust. 1 universal dual tip magnaflow muffler and the tech will be making a 2.25" midpipe to accompany it. He suggested going without the resonator and then adding it later if I wasn't happy.

You probably wont need a resonator in the midpipe unless you want it REALLY quiet. Im running a custom magnaflow turbo XL muffler with 2.5 inch piping from the "Cat-Back" (oohhh i just got to use catback when refering to my car, what a great day) and without the resonator it is perfect, not too loud but definitely there. You will probably be able to have the guys position the muffler in place with the piping and hear what it will sort of sound like (note take these few moments to rev it just off the headers and the cat because it is a really fun sound!!!), a couple things to look out for:

1) depending on your muffler there may have to be a inventive way of hanging it since with my magnaflow design it would have looked stupid to weld the pin thingies (im not a car guru) so they fit the stock hangers. overall make sure the setup hangs well.

2) make sure that any mandrell bends do not get too restrictive or thin

3) make sure the welder is doing a good job, he is your god.

4) keep the tip even with or under the bumper, no rice, no burned shins. Overall it just makes things better.

It should probably go without event, our cars are not that difficult. and boy does a custom setup save $$$$. I paid WAYYYY under 200 for my catback, and well you'll never hear me complain about not shelling out the big bucks for a BPM or a ScoobySport. in the Internet Cliche land : IMHO, as far as exhaust goes, theyre almost all the same as far as power for N/a 6hp of one half dozen Horsepower of the other.
