Question Re: What brand of gas do you use?

Well I was just wondering what brand of gas you use and why. I like to use Mobil because of brand loyalty and I see a definite gas mileage advantage over Sunoco. So, what do you use and why? Also, what car do you have, an L, RS, OBS, WRX, modded car (what mods). Thanx.

[edit] what in your opinnions is the worst gas out there?

Personally, I like Amoco Ultimate. My old car thrived on it, and my L loves it. I have tried every brand exept for Sunoco, only because I don't trust anyone that has a level of gas no one else has (94 octane).

I use Sunoco 89, always heard good things about it, and car seems happier with it. Plus, I'm not in the mood to start trying other brands. I actually go very out of my way to get it, but luckily, this car is so fun to drive that I would be wasting the miles anyway.

Mobil, strictly because it's convenient. It can be more expensive sometimes.

I ran nothing but Amoco 87 in my truck for 3 years straight... never a problem with it, except the price.
I'm gonna be running BP 87 in my 2002 2.5 RS for the simple fact that BP now owns Amoco and their gas is .07-.10 cheaper. I still have yet to put gas in the car since it only has 275 miles on it... maybe tomorrow after some more miles
Screw using anything more than 87... car dosen't need it, why buy it?

I use only Chevron. Regular 87 seems to work well in the cooler weather, but just a couple of weeks ago I was getting a slight engine knock around 2500-3000 RPM. But living in FL and the heat being officially turned up and staying up I put in 89 chevron and the the knock went away. Just being cautious though, I took the car into the dealership with my Ganzflow on it and the mechanic did a diagnostic, and he told me that he always puts 89 in his car during the summer months due to the less dense air associated with the heat. Me being a pilot and all I told him I understood very well at what he was saying and that we use 100 low lead in all the reciprocating engines at all times, because of high altitude less dense air. Enough said, just my input though for those of us in the southeast, you may want to look into it deeper as well as your wallets with the slightly higher price for the 89.

What is the prob with ARCO? I ask because ARCO is all that is avaialable in my town. Shell is 12-15 cents more a gallon as freeway gas rather than the 4 ARCOs in town.

Cheapest gas I can find. My RS doesn't have a turbo like my 323GTX, so away I go

Usually BP or Speedway
Regular grade.

If I had high performance, I would run Sunoco94

Used it in my race car.

I only use Mobil Synergy 8000 or Shell Optimax. Both claim to have 98 octane.. so I'm happy.

Keep in mind that, for example, going to a Chevron station in no way shape or form means that you are necessarily getting gasoline made at a Chevron Refinery. Here's how it works. Let's say you live in Memphis and there is a Shell Refinery nearby, but you insist on only go to Citgo gas stations. Do you actually believe it would be economically feasable for Citgo to make the gasoline in Louisiana or Texas and ship it all the way to Memphis and still sell it at a competetive price compared to the Shell stations in town? Absolutely not. Citgo and Shell would make an arrangement whereby Shell supplies the gasoline to the Citgo stations in Memphis, and Citgo would supply gasoline to the shell stations in Louisiana. So making statements like "I ONLY buy Brand X gasoline" is a little silly, since unless you live close to that refinery, you are NOT necessarily getting that brand. So save your money and buy gas wherever it is the cheapest.

1/2 91 octane, 1/2 100 octane Sunoco unleaded. With an intake, exhaust, pulley, torque chip, fuel pump, ecu reset, and exhaust, it really likes that fuel. No it's not a daily driver anymore. Yes, I finally have the money to "waste" . Considering this car's development, I'm not surprised it makes good use of that fuel. The pull is definitely noticeable. I'm sorry more people don't have access to this. IT really is worth the money. Try to look at it like this...you can spend all you want on premium fuel, and then 4 dollars for a bottle of octane booster. Or, you could spend 5-6 dollars on 2 GALLONS of 100 octane. It really does like the 100 octane better! Try it. It has a loving mother's huge stamp of disapproval! Gary
