Prodrive Axle back vs STI Axle back- which ones is louder on a stock exhaust 2004 WRX.(no UP/DP)

I currently have the STI axleback but doesnt seem "enough" for what im looking for - wish I heard the prodrive in person.

I'm 99% sure that the Prodrive will be louder.

Awesome ! Thanks a bunch Waiting for UP & DP to ship. I'll take video of the sound of STI axleback. Then I'll see if the Prodrive will be worth the extra $$$

My dB tests don't bear this out. In fact, I will be switching from the Prodrive to the STi this weekend to quiet down my wagon for the wife while I'm on deployment. Idle dB is about the same, but at 3000, the STi is FAR quieter.

Thanks to the Indy crew, I added like 12 exhausts today. They were kind enough to move their entire meet to accomidate my scheduled arrival in the area. Wonderful bunch of guys and I appreciate the additions.

Yes is does. His car is fast though, he can hit the low 12s.

We set a record for the test too. Rizzo's car hit 113 at 3000 rpm. I see it listed near the bottom as a Version 7.
Thanks for adding our data.

Any word on a test for this system yet? There has to be at least one in the states on a Sube.

I would be more than happy to purchase it for you... with your money. PM me w/ your info! Don't worry, "Pedro offers you his protection."

Anyway, I would like to have the exhaust as well. Just wish there were more pics of it on the car than what the Veilside site has.

Talking Lot of work, great job. Asking too much for sound clips?

Hi Unabomber:
I like your work. Is it asking too much for sound clips? DB is only one thing, but sound signature is another that we prefer for our choice. I know it is asking a lot. If it can be done, it will be mounumental!

I'm afraid sound clips are out. While I do have a good web host, I fear hosting sound clips would kill it towards the end of each month. The host I use is for my wife's business, that that would be bad ju-ju. Plus, I usually test a lot of exhausts at local meets and that would be a big bummer as it would kill my "hang out" time with all the local guys. Nice idea, but I just can't support it.

Default H and S (scoobysport) on STI

Does anyone have or know of anyone who has a scoobysport or Heyward and Scott on a USDM STI? It seems nobody has done this....

I know H and S were great for torque area under the curve...but I'd really like to know how an STI responds, if differently. Even worse than that, I'd like to know about their "Rallye" exhaust, which supposedly is much louder.

Guess I could always be the guinea pig.

Ron next time you're in NoVA harass me to record the Scoobysport. I'm very curious how it compares to the Prodrive I swapped it for.

Interesting stuff. I just got back from Laguna Seca where they have a 92db limit for track days. They have a sound booth setup on drivers right between turns 5-6 where you have an uphill straight, it's about 50ft from the track.

I usually am at wot shifting from 3-4 just as I pass the booth. Well, I got the meatball flag and was told my exhaust was measured at 98.2dbs. Unabombers data showed 98 db with a similar setup. Unfortunately, I had to lift there the rest of the day and held my lap times around 1:50.

on my '03 I have vf34, borla headers, vishnu up, helix catless d/p and a borla hush exhuast.

fwiw, the setup sounds awesome at wot, especially ehcoing off the cement k-walls going up the Rayhal straight.

WOT and 3000 rpm are very different. You have a similar set up to mine (number 87 on the chart) but I had two cats and a auger/silencer in mine at the time that made it very quiet. (98 dB) You don't want to use me as a typical setup.
A catted DP would probably fix your problem

Your system should be called an amplifier, not a muffler.
Yes, his car really is that loud.

Agreed the cat would help but the throttle response without is is great! I have a catted helix dp and was impressed with the performance difference without the cat. Oh, well Laguna Seca is supposed to be close 60 days next year for track upgrades so I may not have to worry for while . . .at least Sears Pt is 105db.

Looks like the TurboXS and Cobb TBE are the top 2 on my list. Is there a exhaust Dyno chart somewhere? Where is the cheapest place to buy a TurboXS TBE? ...I need to post a tread in the classified section...

I'm not sure if it was stated but were all those readings of C-weighting?
Also does anyone happen to know what the standard is for measuring noise levels as far as limits for causing ear damage etc... do they measure in A-weighting or C-weighting?

Because the db levels of these exhausts is mostly due to Very low frequency levels...possibly lower then the average human ear can detect. switching to A weighting drops the DB's of my greddy by almost 20db.
