It's just amazing the british would pick that car, since a: they don't seem to like australians, but not as bad as americans b: it's a vauxhall
I guess it's just that good

One of these days I'll go testdrive one and see what all the hype is. If it's like any other American V8, it'll be fun to mash the gas, but it'll handle like a boat (my friend's Mustang GT was like that). Maybe, since it's not an American car, it'll surprise me.

I'd take one if the price is right!

And the price is definitely right... with all the rebates GM is putting on the GTO, you can get one for $23k pretax. ($5500 back in some parts of the country). If this keeps up, a lightly used '04 should go for $15k after the '05s come out.

Wait for the '05. The '04 has horrible brakes for the power/weight of the car.

I'd rather have the ls2, not that the ls1 is a slouch...
Even the last gen f-bodies were actually great handling cars.

Actually, they named the new VW GTI best car of the year. Their best car cost-no-issue was the DB9. The Monaro was picked as the biggest surprise of the year because it's a Vauxhall you'd actually want to buy.

The new GTI sure looks sweet. I really loved the review. Too bad it is a VW and their build quality is no where near the Japanese build quality. Although it is a tempting little ride to pick up. I will have to wait and see.

I love the db9, but seeing as how I don't have the money, and that if I did have the money I'd have to wait a few years before I'd receive one.....I'd take the gto. The new gti looks nice, but it's still wwd.
