Impreza GC8 HR mechanics (and anyone willing to lend a hand), I need help with an engine swap :)

2002 WRX engine into a '96 L coupe. The install will start at my house on the 23rd around 7:00 PM. I have 10 days completely free and then I have arranged for a ride to work if I need it. Anyone that is willing to lend a hand or just wants to stop by and witness the miracle (and eat pizza, drink various frosty beverages, or just watch some old WRC or DTM races) is welcome to come by anytime and help.

Removal of the old engine and installation of the new engine will probably be first followed by wiring, wiring, and more wiring.

I have every part I could figure out that I'd need (and a bunch more that Micah told me about), so hopefully there won't be any problems with not having the right part(s).

I'll really appreciate any help from anyone, and anyone that helps is welcome to use my garage and tools for any future installs. Let me know if you are going to show up and what type of beverages you like. Thanks in advance for the help.

Here's directions for all who are interested-

Neat.

I'm going to volunteer George for this, as anything he can learn on your car, will save his car from being f'd up.

I will be in florida until the 4th, so I won't be around any to help, sorry.

The 23rd things will be starting around 7 PM. I might not get off work until 5 PM, and I want to take it for one last drive before ripping it's heart out.

I hope to show up just when you are finished with the work to enjoy the food/beer. That's me specialty. How about some mapquest for a brother so we know how to get there?

Micah, is your sister coming?

And yes, there will be beer- provided someone tells me what kind they like. Otherwise I'll just have Corona and Killians on hand.

miller lite....or if jason is coming then it will have to be bud. corona and killians while good when already drunk are the devil if not intoxicated upon first consumption.

where i, sean, bob, or george are there is most likely beer or beer to follow.

Man I would love to come by and help ya out... Iím doing the very same swap in my Legacy, only Iím kicking it up a notch swapping the tranny too from a 4EAT->5MT. Unfortunately VB is a little far for me to travelÖ

Are you using a WRX or turbo Legacy crossmember?
You doing stand-alone engine mgmt, or integrating the WRX harness?

I am using a WRX crossmember, I had a line on a Turbo Legacy crossmember but if fell through. I am integrating the WRX harness for the wiring. A stand-alone would be cool, but then I'd have to get it tuned and for now I'd rather have that cash in reserve in case I need some other expensive part or need to fix something.

well it looks like I will be around until the 29th so expect me over every evening after I get off work probably between 3 and 6pm. I can probably help with the wiring some. Have you already mapped out your wiring situation atleast on paper and hopefully with the new harness as well?

Cool

I have not mapped the new harness, and have been going back through my plan on paper over and over to make sure everything is correct. I'll probably start mapping on the new harness itself this weekend. With the amount of stuff I'm getting rid of it should only take this weekend. That is of course if I don't have to work.

Scoobi02- the one thing I am lacking in good wiring tools. I am planning on picking up a few things before I got started but if you could lend me what you have as well it might speed the process a little.

I really appreciate everyone willing to lend a hand. Except for Ron, who has volunteered to show up when everything's done and just help with the food and drinks. Just kidding, we'll need help with that too.
