Just got it yesterday and it is quite loud. Will it tone down with time or should I opt for the resonator immediately?

Once you get used to it, it will be quieter. To everyone else, it will still be loud. At least that's what happened with mine.

depends on the kind of muffler, fibreglass will burn out and get louder, stainless like my magnaflow will carbon up and get quieter.

My Rallispec exhaust got quieter with age and now I'm thinking of getting a non-resonated midpipe
, but I'm too cheap to pay for one...but then no police ever even give me a second look as I drive past.~ferretboy signing out. |

My son had a Borla catback installed on his 95 Impreza. We wanted loud, and at first was disappointed because it was too quiet. Now after about 1 month and 1500 miles it's sounding better all the time (louder/deeper)

It is actually an ANSA Stainless dual tip exhaust with a 2.25" midpipe, no resonator. I'll still need a few days to decide but it does seem intrusive.
Robmat P.S. My buddy owns a muffler distrubution shop and recommended this one as opposed to the Magnaflow, but I don't know..... |

With my Stromung SS dual-tip, I've noticed that it's louder on some days and quiter on others. It seems to have to do with temp and humidity, but I haven't figured out the exact pattern is...

As exhaust gasses get hotter the exhaust note is noticably louder..thats what I have noticed.

I have a dual tip Stromung and it does get louder on certain days. Some days I get a headache because the inside cabin humming is really loud. Though, I still love my Stromung.

I guess I'll have to give it a few days and then make a decision. I'll post what happens.

As it starts to impair your hearing, it will become quieter with each day!

The exhaust sound will also depend on your intake. with my stock air box it was quieter but deeper with my ram air its a bit louder but its doesn't sound as deep. Pretty sure the pipe size would make a difference too. the speed at which the gas travels has something to do with it.. can't remember what it is though.

If the exhaust can is packed with fiberglass it will slowly get louder, and louder as the fiberglass matting deteriorates.
