Default STi engine designations for older STi's

ok, so i was wonderign what the letters after the EJ20x stand for. i have found hte 01 and higher, but i cant seem to find 00 an down.
so, if we have EJ207xxxxx, then it has letters and numbers for some code.
it usually starts with D, and i dont know what that means.. this stumps me.
then theres a W or X. i think W is Manual tranny, and X is auto(regular WRX's).
then theres a number. i think it pertains to the year? but version 4s have a 7, and 5s have a 1. does anyone know why?
then theres a 2 letter code. its usually a PR or PJ i think.
does the PR pertain to a regular STi and the PJ pertain to an R/RA?
and for some reason, a site shows a V4 type R with a PR, and a V4 type RA with a PJ, and regular V4s with a PR. this one stumps me as well, i thought Rs and RAs had the same motor.
am i right on these?
Tyler

ok, so i realized i messed up. pretty sure the "DW" means japanese market, so then what does DX mean. on http://www.catherineandken.co.uk/sti/ they show the auto's as DX designation.
