Default Brake light question?

Hey, i figure this is the best spot to ask the question.

I have had my 2004 WRX for about 4-5 months now and just last night noticed something strange. Ive never seen this before and was wondering if anyone else can verify if it is normal or not...

Seems that when i brake, my brake lights turn on just like they should, except this is now happening when the car is not "on" or on "accessory" or even when the key is not even in the ignition.

Is this normal for the brake lights to be turning on when you touch the brakes, even if the car is completely off and the key is out of the ignition?

This is the only car that i have ever seen this happen in and im wondering if its even normal for the WRX or if something might be goofy with my car.

Like i said, ive never even noticed it before, so i dont know if its always done it or just recently started to do it.

Please let me know if anyone has an answer for me about this. Thanks.

Actually it's normal.
Even when the car is off with no key in the car, (most of the car as I know) when you depress the brake, the brake lights will turn on.

Thanks, at least i know somethings not wrong with my car, but i still havent seen any other cars that do this. I tested all the other cars in my family except for my dads vette since its in storage for the winter and none of them did it... 6 cars, and mines the only one that the brakes work on with no key in the ignition.
