Post Come Be a Part of Ojibwe Rally! Your chance to be on a rally team!

Hello all!

I need a few good volunteers to help with servicing the Primitive Racing rally car at the Ojibwe Forest Rally this year in Bemidji, Minn on August 17th through 19th.

Enthusiasm is the number one criteria (but general mechanical skills can't hurt!)

We need people to help re-fuel, change tires, inspect suspension, clean windshield, mount driving lights, and make small repairs...

I have a hotel room reserved for crew members to crash at. All the usual perks of being a Primitive team member apply. You would need to arrive Friday afternoon in Bemidji if possible. The rally ends late Saturday.

The rallycar will again be on display at Morrie's Subaru for a week before the race!

Please contact me directly at PaulEklund@aol.com for more information or to volunteer your services.

Many thanks! Pe

Thumbs up MMMM, service crew

I can Probably help out. I'm not sure about my August work schedule yet, but I'm REAL flexible. I have a good general mechanical knowledge and a great intrest in getting into "real" rally. The problem is, I can't drive there and leave the Wife with no car for three days. So the only way I can really come is if somone is coming up thru Michigan. I live in Grayling,MI off of I-75 about 2 hours south of Mackinaw City. So, If sombody is coming by on the way there, I'm in!

Chad (XT-6 driver) and I are attending this event as I've spoke with Paul.

You guys should come out an watch and I see there is a Rally-x on Thursday evening.

Any Minnesota guys live near Bemiji (sp)? I'm debating on coming up on Thursday late, or leave too early on Friday. It looks to be a 10-11 hour drive from Omaha, but it recommends me to take I-29 which seems a bit out of the way.

Any thoughts and info from you Minn. guys is greatly appreciated.

Later,

Jon

I went to school in Bemidji, if you guys are looking for a cheap place to stay, you can check out the residence halls at Bemidji State University. They have some guest housing that is pretty reasonable, if you don't mind staying in a dorm and sharing a bathroom.

I would be more than happy and willing to help out for that weekend.....except Road America is hosting CART and I committed to attend that event.

I have tools and can use them w/o loosing to much blood and can weld and fab/design too

However, will you be needing some help this fall in Superior? If yes count me in I can start planning now to make sure it is on the calendar.

Let's just get back to the subject of WHO is gonna come help me kick some tail at the Ojibwe Forest Rally in August!

I have Christian and Lance confirmed and several other very possibles like Jon. Contact me directly if you want to help and car make the whole rally.

I have a new STi-RA 4.44 gear box in the car and it is sweet. Hopefully strong enough too.

My Schedule:

Drive the service van towing the rallycar to Morries' Subaru in Minnetonka (leave Friday Aug 3rd and arrive Sunday Aug 5th)

Fly back to Minneapolis on Thursday Aug 16th at 9pm. Get van and car, sleep at ?? (any volunteers?)

Get up early and tow to Bemidji. Arrive noon. Unload and get to tech at Chalet car wash. Return to Northwoods (rally HQ) and complete registration by 2:30pm. Go to Holiday Inn express and check in and unload by 3:30pm. Rally starts back at Northwoods around 5pm...

I will be there if possible. I am in the middle of a job search now.. and once I find a job I will be asking for Friday off and drive 7 hours out there (.. damn thats gunna be a LONG ass Day..) on thursday night or atleast make it to the west side of WI ( lacrosse or something).

If I dont secure a job by then, well I will prolly be too broke to make the drive.

So, if anyone knows of any employment opporunities for network engeers in the midwest lemme know

Paul.

You know I will be there along with my friend Chad, so there is 2 guys.

I sent you an e-mail a while back about a few things considering lodging and all.

It looks like in order to get there by the 2PM deadline you required, we might have to drive into the night Thursday and just crash when we get there, so is that room open on Thursday or not until Friday?

What all should I bring or do you need me to bring? get back to me via e-mail.

Thanks Paul,

Jon

P.S. This is going to be a blast I love working on Subaru's and let alone seeing and being involved with a rally car (my dream). I will be there no matter what the weather.

Have a Nice Day? More Details

Since I will not be arriving Bemidji with the cube van and USX rallycar until noon on Friday, you are on your own for a room Thursday night.

We did get the new STi-RA gearbox into the car, so hopefully no tranny woes this year (sorry, I know you REALLY wanted to change another one Chin!)

I check in at the Holiday Inn Express around 2-3pm on Friday (8/17). You can meet me at tech (~noon), rally headquarters (~1:30pm) or motel (~3:00pm)

I currently have THREE ROOMS RESERVED (Fri and Sat only). Anyone who has replied previously or who is going to help with service. please email me one more time with the following info so we can be sure to have room:

estimated arrival day/time
smoker or non-smoker
snore or no snore (be honest!)
light sleeper or heavy sleeper
have own sleeping bag for floor space Y or N

Most people are going to get floor space. Bring a mat and earplugs!

Helpful items:
Rain Gear (hopefully not needed)
Bug repellent
Flashlight
Hat / gloves
Water / gatorade
rags / towel

Current confirmed service crew:

Christian Banks (Friday Morning, possibly with Primitive van/USX)
Lance Stacy
Jon Simmons (may arrive very late Thursday)
Chad McVicker (may arrive very late Thursday)
Sean Gilmour (arrives late Thursday (may need a room)

Sorry Jesse,

I will have to miss this year. My screaming yellow USX will be there for two weeks though... Luckily, Lee Shadbolt will be there in person to answer questions about both our cars during RallyFest Wednesday night...

Unless I win the lottery or land a big sponsor, I have a limited budget of time and money...

I hear from Scott Putnam, that the Wednesday night "RallyFest" should be pretty fun and have some surprises and late night bench racing afterwards at Sherlock's... (that's drinking beer and telling lies for those who wish to attend)
