Default legitimate reason to complain to boss?

Well i started with my company back in March. We are all shift workers expected to work weekends, nights, days, holidays, etc.

Well I stick to nights i have been doing if for two years now and its nothing. Since i have been here I worked every holiday so that people can spend it with their families. I am young and single and my family isnt close i dont bother with it.

But my boss couldnt find someone to work Christmas day, i had already volunteered to work the 24,25,26,27 fomr 6pm-6am. Well the other night shift guy is going to NJ to visit family. So the boss offers 200 in gift certificates to the person who will work Christmas day. So the dude cancels his plans to go to NJ so he can get the 200 and just goes up a day later.

This bugs me because I have worked every holiday and NEVER got a thank you from any of my co-workers or boss so that they can spend time with their families.

So should I write a formal complaint or something about the situtation?

Yes. I think you should definitely confront the boss on this. It would be good if you could have another job lined up in case you need to put an exclamation mark on it.

Mention it informally.
That you make a conscious effort to fill in when others would rather not.

As for another job, it would not be hard to find another one.

As a matter of fact, if jobs aren't hard to come by there, I'dd address the boss immediately, and quit effective Wednesday if no gesture is made to honor your contributions.
