Default How much does a casino make in a day?

My friend and I were talking, and he asked me how much I thought a casino makes in one day. I guess how much they pull in, and how much is actual profit. I am sure Las Vegas casino's make a ton more. But he is from Atlantic City, and I guess he wants to know how much they pull in. I tried google for a little, but I couldnt get the keywords right.

Someone has to know this.

I was at a gas station in Reno back in the early 90's and overheard the owner telling someone that each slot he had made $40k per year. There are a lot of slots in a casino, and I imagine they don't make much money compared to the tables.

I expect a casino has quite a lot of expenses, as well; some official and some unofficial.

AC Casinos make substantially more than your average Vegas Casino. I think Trump (DJTC) is public, so you could google the 10Q on them. That could give you a picture.

For a fast answer, figure around $60K per Day pit, $250K Slots, $100K RF&B and Other (Cash only, no Comp revenue), for $400K or so in Revenues, Maybe $30K-$40K EBITDA, and $5K-$10K Net. I'm pulling these numbers out of my arse, but these should give you a good picture of a relatively successful, highly leveraged casino.

We are getting somewhere. 40k a year on each slot? I heard something like 200 per slot per day in some casino (found that number on google).

In AC, the average WIN per day is around $250...wait, I'll tell you what it was in August....$261.52 per Day.

That was August. Winter results are lower.

10Q is a quarterly financials filing with the SEC.

Slots make more money for the casinos than any other game.

You've got a hellva lot more people playing them, and the odds are far worse than any other game.

I asked the casino boat guys this ? one time. They said they pull in anywhere from 500k-2million on a given night/trip (~5 hours).
I'd say there are 500+ people on a given night.

Unfortunately, I can't find any public 10Q's or Annual reports that are free online. discoboomer's link is cool, but only shows you the gaming revenue. Similar numbers for Mississippi can be found by googling Mississippi Gaming Commission, and Nevada at http://gaming.nv.gov/gaming_revenue_rpt.htm .

To get the whole picture, you have to consider gaming taxes which are taken straight off the top, labor and operating expenses, corporate taxes, the high interest associated with keeping a casino competitive with the place next door, etc.

I can't share with you exact numbers from properties where I've worked before, even the numbers I remember, but what I posted above could be used as a general guideline for a property with 2000 rooms, a thousand slots and 80 table games.

If your boat guys are talking about buy-in volume ("Drop"), I'd say that's accurate. Actual Win on a boat would be quite less on an average night.

Ahhh, highly leveraged, just like me personally. However I am at that point on the graph where leverage is hurting rather than helping.

Agreed. I took what they said as gross gains, not net (or win, as you sly mob guys apparently call it ).

In other news, I took $500 and 6th place in a NL poker tourney on the boat this past Sunday. So they gets nada from me! (actually, they took my $15 house fee without much of a fight ).
