Default Sound coming from grill, alarm grounding problem?

Recently I have this high pitched sound coming from right around the grill area of my car while it is shut off. As far as I can tell it is an intermittent problem. It didn't make the sound for a week or three, then I shut my car off tody and it's back.

I brought it to the dealership and they speculated that the ground wire on my alarm was bad. They claimed it would not drain my battery or be detrimental to my electrical system and it is just annoying.
The cost of a repair of this sort is approx. $60, plus my time.

I don't think an issue of this nature warrants me paying that much money for something I'm sure could be fixed very easily.

So has anyone experienced this problem before. Does anyone know where the grounding wire is for the alarm, or have a schematic on it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you find anything out on this. I think I have the same problem on my '05 wrx wagon. I got the car on Mon and started hearing the sound on Wed. I have the chirp sound off on the keyfob, but I'm guessing that's where the sound is coming from. Please keep us posted. I can't believe we're the only two people ever to have this problem. - Newb
