Default Active head restraints?

I've got a 04 Outback Sport, which apparently has "active head restraints". My car recently got bumped from behind. There was no damage to the car (I had the alignment and frame checked), not even paint scratches. But I know the head restraints are supposed to be inspected by the dealer after a rear-end collision, because the head restaints won't "function" once they've been activated.

Is there any way I can tell if my car was actually bumped enough to "activate" the active head restraints? I tried calling my Subaru dealer, but their service department transferred me to the body shop who tried to transfer me back to the service department.

Would they head restraints be stuck in a forward position? They can still move up and down fine. Anyone ever gotten these things inspected after a collision before?
