Yes, people have done this. I am not 100% sure if it's 100% safe or not, but there really is no reason to do this. Save your money for something else or just get a bigger top mount as it would be safer/cheaper.

Another option you have is to keep waiting and waiting for the accessport tuner. And run a front mount than. Who knows when that will be though

I am only @ cobb stage 2 currently but I don't see any problems running the front mount . Cobb runs pretty safe ( rich ) maps to begin with . I plan on adding front mount with my turbo upgrade and 2.5 map in the spring and im not too worried about it .

Butt this is my opinion and I am far from an expert !

Not that I doubt this or anythign like that, but without the ability to adjust the map to accomodate for a FMIC, running a map designed for a TMIC results in a noticably slower and constipated-feeling car.

Although I don't run Cobb's ecu solution (I have the other reflash), when I went from my TMIC (TurboXS) to a FMIC without any other adjustments, I went from putting down 290 whp on my tuned TMIC map(1820 +other trimmings) to not being able to keep up with a stock Dodge SRT4 at all.

The additional piping throws off both the boost and A/F curve when compared to a TMIC map, and has to be adjusted accordingly to realise the gains. The ecu does do a good job though of keeping things together, but that's about it... Car NEEDED a retune before it would surpass its previous power levels

Even if your car is stock with just a FMIC it will make it run lean unless you have a custom tune with engine management. Wait for the accesstuner or go with any one of the other EMS. Friend with his APS DR500 FMIC, turboback, no engine management had his car dyno'd with a/f readings. It got down to around 8:1 lean.

Yeah, I'm smoking crack today. Too tired. I'm off to bed. I'll see if he still has the a/f readings from his dyno sheet.

Thanks guys for the info. I still don't know what I am going to do. I have a vf 30 sitting in my garage and I have not had time to pick up the injectors. I did know if I wanted to get a fmic or not. I will be honest I just want it because it just looks real good on a wrx. I already have cobb's stage 2 and ran 13.3 @ 100mph, I am looking to get a 12 sec pass out of the car and then I will be stopping and be doing alot autoxing and roadraceing. But I still might drag every so often. If it will not slow me down I will put it on.

I wouldnt do that because your adding like 12-15 ft of extra intercooler pipeing, this will throw the mafs of more so than adding a bigger top mount. i added a huge tmic and it worked out just fine, but im sure the front mount will need a custom tune.

I have used sti injectors for 320 if you want them, with 8k on them.

but on a side note, it'd be awesome if somebody had a cobb 2.5 /w fmic who could get an a/f reading to find out how close the car is running to stoic to determine wether its safe. I mean if it is exactly 12:1 i'd be kind of sketched, if it was something like 10:1 i'd feel better about it.

As I said before, when I went from upgraded TMIC to a FMIC (dr500), the car went from dropping 290whp to being unable to keep up with a stock SRT4. The car was SLOW, even slower than a stock wrx...... and felt plain uncomfortable with itself (if such a thing was possible).

I had ECUtek for management... The ECU was able to keep the car running, but that was about it... the power had disappeared completely

When I put a bigger tmic on the car (prior to being tuned for it), I noticed thatthe car had more torque everywhere with it. - More so downlow in the rev range.

A TMIC I feel can go on without much further alterations to the existing map.. But not a FMIC.
