Yeah, that's about right.

Default STi gauge cluster in old school Impreza - what wiring mods are needed??

Hi all --

Anybody running a JDM STi gauge cluster in their GC/GM/GF? I've got an '01 2.5RS and will be receiving a Ver. 5 cluster soon. As I understand, the compatibility works like this:

'98 RS = ver. 4 STi (no green connectors on top)
'99-'01 RS = ver. 5-6 STi (with green connectors on top)

So it should work. But everybody is talking about some "minor pin modifications" without saying what they actually are. So, what kind of modifications are we talking about? Can anybody shed some light?

Thanks in advance...

Thanks Brendan ... ha ha, yeah, I know about your STi cluster. Very funny.

And I did check the page you linked, but he says:
Quote:
The unit had to be modified to work with the stock RS wiring harness, and this modification was graciously done by Trey Cobb at Cobb Tuning. Without his help, this modification would not have been possible, and I cannot thank him enough. You can pick up one of these units directly from Trey.
That's the question ... what's Trey doing to the gauge clusters to make them work?

Bump. I have the gauge cluster and am busy tracing wires. Doesn't match up to the wiring diagram very well, but then again, I don't expect the stock cluster to, either. Unless someone replies, I guess I'm going to have to pull the stock cluster and start comparing... Sigh...
