Default need electrical help bad

okay ive been trying to wire up an omori electric boost gauge all day and im frustrated i hate when i cant figure something out...im trying to wire it using the fuses behind the change holder...i tapped the number 4 fuse for gauge power which is the fuse for the cigarette lighter and i tapped the number 12 fuse for illumination which is the lighting controls for the headlights and what happens is when i start it up the gauge reads right but doesnt illuminate then when i turn my headlights on it acts as if its off it has no reading at all and still no illumination...so obviously im doing something wrong but its frustrating me cuz im really close to getting it working anyway any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Well - I can't help you with the fuse box, as I didn't dig in there (best to consult a wiring diagram before you connect in there) - I grabbed everything off of the clock harness (the back of the clock is even labelled) - everything you need is there - ground, switched +12v, and the +12v lead of the illumination circuit (Subaru uses a variable ground for the illumination system) - that's how I wired in my Omori electronic boost gauge - just used taps on those three leads.

Question

Sounds like not enough ground, I would run the illumination and power circuit together on a key switched power source if that is possible. Is it led or lcd?

Yeah it was not enough ground...i had grounded it to a spot where there was paint and didnt realize that would mess up the circuit...i moved the grounds and it works perfectly now but thanks for your help
