Default *Another* fog light mod question.

I chacked out the fog light mod sticky and have a quick question.

Background: I want to be able to turn my fog lights on whenever my car is on (i.e. whether the lights are on or not). So what I want to do is splice the red w/ green stripe on the 4th relay down from the top to the large green wire on the 2nd bottom relay. The problem is I am color blind and can't tell the difference between the red w/ green stripe and the red w/ blue stripe on the 4th relay down from the top.

OK, here's my question: Is the red w/ green stripe wire on the relay the same red w/ green stripe wire that goes into the back of the fog light button? If so, can I just bridge a wire from the red w/ green stripe wire on the back of the fog light switch to the green wire on the 2nd bottom relay?

Thanks,
Doug

First it is helpful to mention the year and model of your car. regarding your question: In other words you want to operate the fogs with the fog light switch but independant of other lights?

'02 WRX. Yes, fog lights can come on but independent of other lights.

I think you'll need to do it at the relay. When i tried to do mine at the switch, the indictator light on the switch would stay on all the time. This may not be the case with yours, since this was done on a Baja Turbo.Good Luck

Wife came home, so I got her to identify the wire at the relay. Cut it and spliced the wire not attached to the relay. No fog lights, but the light on the fog light switch came on. Hmmm. Tried the wire leaving the relay (the other side of the wire I cut), fog lights work whenever the car ignition is on, but the light on the fog light switch goes off. I knew this would happen from reading the sticky in the WRX section. Got to wondering, maybe I just needed to splice the red w/ green wire into the green "always on" wire. Works like a charm! The fog light comes on whenever the ignition is on and the fog light lamp in the switch comes on. Great! Swtich to high beams and they come on and...everything fades. I check fuses, burnt out one of the 50 amp fuses under the hood. So I'll replace the fuse tomorrow and rewire it same as before but won't wire in the red w/ green stripe that is not connected to the relay. I believe that's basically how someone wired it in the sticky.

BTW, anyone know how much those 50A fuses cost? TIA
