How about the cruise control and the fog light buttons? This interior color change mod was really worth the trouble. Thanks again for this great thread!

so yeah, i'm answering my own question, the LCD with the trip and OD stays green. I did the mod yesterday, wasn't that bad, missed a spot at 120 mph and on the fuel gauge, othewise went good. BTW, i noticed that there is a spot that a bulb is missing, is that for automatics (mine is manual) or another vehicle? alos, i only replaced 3 .2 bulbs, think i missed one.

I dont think I put all of mine in the right spots, even though I am meticulous I never thought they would vary that much. Maybe thats why some people were complaining more about hotspotting than others.

My condoms seem to be sliding off the bulbs about half way after a few days. I put 2 condoms on each bulbs for the cluster. The first condoms stays on the bulb, but the second condom tend to slide a bit off. Only on the bigger bulbs though (not the smaller bulbs.) I slide it back on fully tight, but it keeps on sliding out everytime I check. I am guessing it's due to the heat from the bulbs. Anybody have the same problem? I'm going to take it out again to check because I don't want to condoms to fall off into the cluster. Any input on how to keep the condoms secure?

mine have been on for a few days, but the cars is still stored, so i haven't driven it or noticed it, but i did let the dash run for a little while after install, so the condoms may be able to "bake" on, they certainly smelled like they did.

I have heard that you dont have to sand the gauges on the 02 WRX, does anyone know for sure, how can I tell if there is a green film?

Did you remove the needles? Are you sure the clips are plugged in and your fuses are ok?

i can't get a uniform bright color. it's either bright but darker in some places and more orange in some places, or it's all dim and all a deep color. i'm thinking LED's might be the only alternative to my bulb cover woes.

It's orange if the condoms slipped half off the bulbs (or you didnt double bag), I really dont get any hot spotting in mine, you guys might want to mess with the locations of the bigger vs. the smaller bulbs.

Im not sure what you mean by fuses, the needles actually ended up coming off when i was trying to fix them, but now my speedo is stuck at 35 and my tach and everything else dont work

Did you push down the black rings, do the needles move freely when gently pushed?

Thats the problem, Im not sure what you mean by freely, if I tap them, they will move and then kind of swing back down, I assumed that was freely. But apparently its not right, after messing with them for about 2 hours yesterday, I have got nowhere, surely I wouldve got lucky once and got at least one of the gauges to work. But back to work I go, at least the wind is only about 50 mph today

Trunk_Monkey - I finally got my gauges working again, just by playing with them and setting the speed like you said, I think my gas is a little off (can be fixed) and my TACH needs to be a little more "responsive" other than that, Im very relieved. Now all I have to do is get my color perfected. Couple questions though:

1)Did you color your Odometer LCD screen as well??
2)How?
3)Are the larger bulbs more intense?
4)If so, wouldnt it make sense to but a few of the larger ones and replace the small ones to get better results?

1...
his ODO never lit up, so he hasn't tried. if someone wants to try to open it up and reverse the light up, so that the numbers light up instead of the background, i'd be very thankful.

2...
i'd assume it's similar to the stereo LCD, but i'm not sure.

3...
No, actually the larger bulbs are about the same brightness but they cover a larger area and don't take to colored covers as well. red comes out more orange on the larger bulbs.

4...
no, because the smaller ones are designed to fit the smaller oil temp and fuel level gauges.

Ok well im for sure not the person to "try" to color the LCD, I am not for sure even how to get to it and I dont want to break it again. I did see through the back of the pod that there is like a rectangle green backdrop to the LCD. I think thats what it is anyways, That annoyingly "green" green color that they used. Im glad you told me that the larger bulbs dont color right. I wonder if there are just red bulbs somewhere, and if they would look right. Ill have to look around. Thanks
