Default aux fog/driving lights need to be off when highbeams are on

Just got failed on my car inspection since my auxiliarly driving lights don't go off when my high beams are on.

I've seen plenty of posts on how to bypass the stock fogs so that they come on while the highbeams are on

But does anyone have ideas on how to get them to kick off when the highbeams go on?

The post has me a bit confused. Driving lights are suppose to go on with the high beams. Fog lights usually come on with the low beams.
So regarding you lights: What turns them on now? An idependant switch?

Yes my driving lights are on an independent switch with power coming directly from the battery.

And yes the hella instructions show that they should only go on with highbeams - but in PA (the inspection considers them fog lights) and they must be off whenever the highbeams come on.

Add a relay to the light circuit triggered by the high beam switched ground. Use the normally closed contacts so that the driving lights are disabled when the high beams are on.

Ah i can help... a couple of things you can do...if the aftermarket lights are clear, make them only turn on with high beams,if they are yellow make them turn on only with the low beams. You will have to run a relay for the first two to options. The third option is remove the lights and just put them back on after geting it inspected...or depending just cover them with something so no light shines through the cover...

The confuseing part of PA law is that a clear light is a driveing light to be only on with high beams, but allmost all factory "fogs" are clear which are only on with the low beam..I do state inspections ..

any thoughts on how to wire up the relay - or are you talking about the relay that came with the driving lights?

Wow, that's no fun... I'm glad they don't check that stuff here in California. It's law that aux driving lamps need to come on with high beams only but nobody ever checks that unless you're using your lamps all the time and get nailed by law enforcement.

[one of the very very few car advantages we have here in California...]

Just cover them up w/ some black tape & cardboard. Problem solved.

Not really. In some states if there on the car , they have to work. period
I would just remove them and reinstall afterward. Good post though as a reminder to those with after market lights.
