Default Safe Deposit Boxes- Who Has Them, How Much Did They Cost You?

I'm looking at picking up a safe deposit box, and was wondering how much these things cost. I'd be storing documents (will, power of attorney, tax records, etc.) so for something like an 8.5" by 11" or slightly bigger box I guess. I've seen prices for PO Boxes vary from $25 to $300 a year depending on which PO you go to, so I'm hoping there are banks that give good deals on them as well. Any info most appreciated!

At the bank I used to work at, it was about 15-40 a year. It's been a while, but they're not too pricey. I was thinking of getting one myself also.

We have one for my wifes "good" jewelry. It costs us $90/year for a good sized one.

We have a big one (9.5"x3.5"x20" or so) and it's only $25 a year or so. It's made cheaper if you have an account at the bank, even cheaper if you have a checking and savings accoutn both (which we do. without the discount it's $40 a year, IIRC. Still worth it for peace of mind.).

I've got two with two different banks along with access to a safe at my local Merril Lynch branch.
They are free, cost waived and gratis.
The boxes are large enough to fit a folded daily newspaper.

Can I ask why jewelry is stored so one can not wear, or even see, it?

About 60 bucks a year for me. Store important documents, (passports, car title, autographs of undetermined value, very important pictures, estate notices) and some cash. I call it, 'the incase I have to leave quick and can't go the house' setup.

Never know when you just have to kill someone.

I have one. I keep the Finace's alternate wedding ring(3ct)/big jewerl there, cash, important information, house deeds, insurance information, CD et. al. It cost about 40$ a year. And they don't allow guns in there no matter what Hollywood shows you.

I beg to differ. I live in a county where hand guns are illegal. Only place it can be stored.
