Default Barrett Jackson auction commentators CLUELESS

I was watching some of the Barrett Jackson as I was working on a 1:12 scale Porsche 935. Someone was mentioning hot cars like Ferrari 360 Challenge and Nissan Skyline.

One of the dorky commentators (there are several) was, "Skyline? What kind of a car is Skyline?"

He was answered that it was a very hot car for the JDM.

"Well, I never heard of it!"

"There are lots of cars in other parts of the world that we don't get in America."

"Well they must not be very good then!"

I wanted to punch this asshat in the face, but it wouldn't help.

Well said. Skylines are the most over-rated cars ev4r, thanks to modern video games.

I'm gonna hazard a guess that comment was not made by Alin DeCadinet or Bob Varsha. Those two tend to know thier cars.

and I'd still like to kill DeCadinet and wear his skin.

the guy who host's "victory by design" seems to have a vast knowledge of both usdm and european classics. some of the comments are a bit off, but they're going without a script, at a good pace, so its forgiveable.

right after that skyline comment was a commercial break. when they got back, I think it was mike joy who mentioned the toyota 2000gt could one day be a collectable because unlike many other jappaneese cars, it wasnt produced in great numbers.

some of those cars are pretty amazing. i like the "resto-rods" myself. always seemed like a good idea to have a modern drivetrain in a classic body, so you can actually drive the thing without worrying about it breaking down, or adjusting carbs.....

back in the day of the uber powerful 245hp z28 or the 205hp mustang...the skyline was the tits. 280hp, 5 second 0-60's? America had few cars to compete.
nowadays...yeah a little homomobile like a Subaru will hand them thier asses.

Yes, a GTR, but most skylines aren't GTR's.

An STi is a fast car but you don't hear all of the fanboiz ranting and raving about lowly Imprezas. Misinformation has built every skyline into a supercar.

The main point was that the commentator had never even HEARD of Skyline. I don't want a Skyline; they look almost as stupid as Subarus. I just thought it was weird that a so-called expert would be so blind to an entire segment.

The reason so many of those cars sell for so much is the people that couldn't afford these cars in highschool now can, and are buying them both because they couldn't before and to cling to their youth.

Is he the one that talks like John Madden? Remember when Madden used to be actually entertaining to listen too? Oop! Now I've dated myself!

well its not like the skyline is the only fast car to come out of japan. the supra is as big of a powerhitter as the skyline, the only reason the skyline is better(has an advantage) is the awd. but becoue of that it suffers on the weight a little more. correct me if im wrong, but i thing the supra will outhandle a skyline...haves anyone seen that "best motoring" w/ the supra vs. the mines skyline? that video is crazy, but i think the main reason the skyline was faster was becoue it had stupid amounts of HP...
and another reason most people dont compare the skylines to imprezas is the basic principle of displacement(sp?)...u got a 4cyl 2.0 and a 6cyl 2.6...the skyline (gtr, or even a supra) can make numbers that imprezas can only dream of...
i would take a skyline over a 427cobra, yes i know they are diff. cars and that one is a classic and all that crap. but if money wasnt an issue i would go w/ the JDM Hawtness11one!!

my .o2

Yeah, that's him. Yates no doubt knows exactly what a Skyline is but would enjoy claiming he doesn't just to get a rise out of people.

What an assbag.
