Ok, i'm getting a set of Hella 500's (driving pattern) in a week or so, and want to increase the output of the stock Fog lights. I was looking at rallylights.com's Yellow Star H3 bulbs (i'm 90% sure that their H3's that I need, if not someone correct me). I noticed that they had 3 wattages listed, 55w (stock) 85w, and 110w. I was wondering, since i've got a few relays sitting around, and am going to be upgrading the factory wiring harness anyway, how high of a wattage could I go and still not burn the stock glass/plastic in the fog lights?
I'm also going to be getting some Osram Silverstars for the stock headlights (but this is more of a than relavent to the thread)Thanks.

I ran the Hella 500s with 160w bulbs with no problems. If you have the Lexan covers turn the lights off when you aren't moving

Ok, I obviously didn't explain well enough. I'm getting Hella's, but I want to upgrade my STOCK RS fog lights. I dont even have the Hella's yet, and i'm sure they'll do well (or at least i'll decide what to do once I get them).
I just want to know how much the subaru, stock RS fog lights can handle before they start to burn. (thanks for the quick replys though) |

oOooOooo
Not sure what the bulbs are, but you may want to go a head and make a new relay harness. The stock wiring may not handle much more the 60-80 watts. The plastic lens may not survive more than 100w. ![]() good luck ![]() |

I stand corrected. They sure looked plastic
I still haven't decided what to do with them. I am not sure if the wiring is even intact, I know that the bulbs are all missing and they like to hold water. ![]() oh well its the daily driver, so I am not going to worry about it too much. What I need to do is finish the lights on my WRX ![]() |

/\ does your 95LX have an RS bumper/fogs?
I thought those had the little projector ones. I assure you however, the RS fogs are made of glass, and do break easily when subjected to road debris (rocks). |

mine look like these
![]() I tapped on them earlier this evening and they do feel like glass. I had assumed they were plastic because they looked so fogged over and glazed, and cracked like weathered plastic. if the harnesses and sockets are still intact, I may just load them with some Narva Yellowstars. ![]() |
