Default 02/03 springs/struts on an '04

I've managed to come up with a set of 02/03 struts with Prodrive springs completely assembled as they had been on Dunk's car (thanks again Dunk!). I'd heard someone else mention that I'll need to get the 02/03 top hats for them to work on my 04 wagon, but I'd think that since the entire spring and strut is already together, I could just swap the units in place of my current struts and springs and be done with it. What am I missing?
thanks,
Myron

the rear strut tops are different.
the 04's are more rectangular while
the 02-03 are round. so I would double
check the clearance you have for the reat strut tops.
other that that if there is enough room why not.

I had 02/03 prodrive springs on a 04 sadan. I used the 02/03 top-hats, with the stock struts.

I was not happy with the end result. I thought the front end was to low, and I was always hitting the bump stops. The car was under dampened, and I it just felt wrong.

I took those out and replaced them with a set of STI v8 take offs.

I'm not sure if my car behaved like an 02/03 with the prodrives would have. I just know that I did not like the results.

If the springs/struts/strut tops are all one assembly, it will bolt into your car no questions asked.

The question you should be asking though, is: "Why would I want to put old used 02 struts in my car when I have better, newer 04 struts?"

My reasoning is that the install would be loads easier to undo if I didn't like the end result of the swap. It'll be a few weekends before I have enough free time to put them in, so I'l cogitate on it a bit more.
