Default Wind Noise, Wind Noise, Wind Noise

Yes, Yes, I know do a search......

I have searched and none of the standard fixes work. The drivers window is ok most of the time but, the passanger window will not seal at all. Both have noise from around where the mirror mounting area is. Rubber strips solved most of the drivers noise but nothing has solved the passanger side. Even on the drivers side if I roll it down to pay a toll it will not seal again. I have to stop and open the whole door.

One of the noise articles was for an impreza but described how the mirror housing and the glass angle can be adjusted to seal properly. One thing I had noticed was that the passenger window does flex more then the drivers.

Does anyone know if the BE/BH is the same design?

Anyone done this adjustment?

I have not had my inner door panels off yet so any pointers would be apreciated.

Peace,

Greg

well first you should know exactly were the ait is leaking from. turno on the car and turn on the fan hot or cold. the close the car with all the widows closed. wait for the car to start to force air out of it. then you will be able to find were the air is coming out of.

There is a tsb. It can be found on www.scoobymods.com. I have the same problem but not had it fixed. Not sure of the cost.

Default Thanks...

I can not believe I missed that TSB. That looks like my problem.

I tried closing the door on a thin strip of paper but could not find a loose area. I am sure it is from the gusset area.

Thanks again.

Peace,

Greg

I know you said you tried the standard fixes but just want to make sure. When I had wind noise on my BE I did 2 things short of replaceing the gusset. One I rolled the window down and pinched the gusset so that it hugged the window tighter, trying to make the gap uniform. This fixed a bunch of the noise. Second I went to the auto parts store and got a couple feet of small vac hose, about the dia. of a bic pen. I put it in the rubber trim in kinda the pocket it makes and trimed it to fit. This seals the window up to the rubber a bit tighter as it kinda swells the trim.

Good luck

my 2003 made wind noise, i took it in under the 36k bumper to bumper, they replaced the window gasket and the rubber corner triangle on my door and it fixed the issue. no cost.

bhall: Thanks that is a great idea.

The car is at the dealer right now. I have 38,000 and the bumper to bumper extended warranty. But, I just got the call and the warranty does not cover rubber items?????? I gave them the TSB number, told them I measured it and it was out and asked them to measure it again. I think they do not want to do the work.

On a side note, I taped the gap between the gap between the gusset and the window and the noise was gone.

I will write SOA about the the warranty, try pinching the gusset and get some tube. If the gusset keeps flexing back I will just install the updated gusset myself.

Thanks for all the input

Peace,

Greg
