Default Possible Solution to fix Knocking/Detonation??

As i posted early my problem with my car:

"i recently moved to california and i need to get my car registered. I went to get it smoged and it failed the emissions test. This is what my paper work said

-at idle (698 rpm) my car's HC(ppm) level measured a 184, the maximum allowable emissions was 100
-at 2500 rpm's my car's HC(ppm) level measured 1008, the maximum allowable emissions was 280.
-the CO(%) levels at idle and 2500 rpm were below the maximum allowable emissions. the CO(%) was a pass.

Ok so i swaped a 2000 ej25 into my 94 impreza L and I am using the stock wiring and ECU from my 1.8L. This is what was on the car when i first got it smoged"

With this problem comes another problem i have also been haveing for awhile. My car knocks like crazy and as mensioned above isnt burning enough fuel (running really lean), i am asuming becuase i am still running my stock 1.8 ECU with the 2000 engine. The possible solution i thought of was what if i got a Apex SAFC. would this be able to balence out my air/fuel ratio and stop my car from knocking and also would it make it so my engine would burn the correct amount of fuel so it would pass emissions??

any input would be great.
Aaron

yes it will help you will need some way to monitor A/F to set it
my guess is that you are really rich at idle and lean at wot

the title to your thread should be "Possible Solution to fix using wrong ECU??"
