Default Projector Xenon Retrofit on 04 STi Please

I know a number of STi owners had retrofit their headlights with the Projector Xenon. Previously from BMW Projector Xenon, I really miss those days.

Now, I would like to have it on my STi and I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me out. I am an idiot when it comes to electrical stuff so a big help would be great

You may want to check this thread as there are some posts and pics about a projector retrofit on the '04 lights:

And here's a link to hidtech.com and retrofits:

Hi Charles,

Thanks for your inquiry. We will need you to send us your headlights for
retrofitting. The whole process would take 2-4 business days depends on our
word load. However it may take up to 7-10 business days. Some project we
need to do it slowly and little by little each day to ensure highest
quarlity.

Also we can only use your existing HID ballasts, your HID D2R bulbs is not
good for projector.

Following is a breakdown for this project:

$175 Hella HID xenon projectors (brand new parts with warranty)
$100 Philips 85122 HID D2S bulbs (brand new parts with warranty)
$300 Rretrofit customization cost (most Japanese and German import)
$150 Type S projector enclosure (please check
http://hidtech.com/images/02171.jpg and
http://hidtech.com/projects/04accord.html)
$50 Return shipping and handling within the US

Let us know if you have any more questions.

Just curious, anyone tried to do the mods on the old school GC8 headlights?

I would like to see the result good or not.

Iirc, you're talking about a my1995~1996 GC, correct? Even if someone with a my2000+ GC gets a good result, it may differ a bit with the older healdight because it has the fluted lens design that is supposed to work with the parabolic reflector. I wouldn't be surprised if you encounter a lot of diffuse output with the HID retrofit, even if the HID unit is an entire projector unit and not just the HID-to-Halogen mount retrofit.

You may be better off purchasing those Morette replicas and mount the Xenon projectors there than putting them behind the fluted lens imho.

my 2 cents.

Since the MY99+ the headlight changed from fluted lens into clear lens, that's why I am wondering what will be the outcome.

My mistake. In spite of the car in your profile, I thought I saw a post in the past where you inquired about the older GC headlights. I suppose it was a different person.

If the mounting of the Xenon unit is properly done, then I don't see how the clear lens headlight housing of the newer GC will pose a different problem than a similar retrofit on a GD. Any cosmetic evidence of the transplant can probably be easily hidden by putting the Xenon trim rings/bezel around them imho. Heat and lens discoloration due to UV are probably of no concern either.

Iirc, I've only seen Xenon & BiXenon retrofits on the bugeye and crosseye Imprezas here in Nasioc. Maybe you can be the first to experiment on a GC

There are also a couple of related links in the HID sticky at the top of this forum you may be interested in. Look around the middle of my first post there.
