Cobb AP Stage 1...Will it work with a DP??
I'm just thinking something here...
I know the Stage 1, can be ran with a few different mods without causing any issues, but was intended for a stock car.
My question is, if I want to run a Stage 1 Base map for my everyday driving, while having a MadDad Catted DP, Cat eliminator pipe, and then the stock 2.5" Cat back (for sound purposes)...Would that be ok?
Then run a stage 2 real time map, when racing or just whenever I feel like it?
Basically for the remainder of the winter, I don't really care to have all that power. But I'm stubborn and will install these parts the second they arrive.
Not that it's a bad thing if I ran a stage 2 daily...just wondering...
BTW this is on an 04 STi...

You want to run stage 2 at the *base*, if they have an economy mode or just use the stock map in realtime to trim power or even the valet mode during slick conditions. My opinion is to adjust you foot on the loud pedal. Wife uses stage 2 on her WRX with no problems driving in the winter, she just doesn't press so hard. She doesn't have very good car feel, I can have the car sliding a little and she doesn't feel/notice it. But she still gets by easily driving in bad weather using stage 2. When I use to race dirt ovals many on slick tracks would gear down the car to help from spinning the tires off the turn because they want to be able to mash the throttle like on a good track. I did just the opposite. I use to put a larger rear gear to keep the rpm's at peak at the end of the straightaway on the slower track, because once it hooks up you're more into the powerband and pull them down the straightaway. If you can use your foot and fight the urge to press hard on the pedal to get going, just use stage 2 all the time. Your thought about DP and stock catback is perfectly fine.
Once again you want to use use stage 2 as the "base map", detune using the realtime maps.
