Cool The Official **Bad A$$ Cusco Sticker** Blog

SCIC Peeps,

Ya'll remember this sticker?:

[*] The good news: I found the sticker!

[*] The bad news: I am having trouble figuring out if we can get them or not.

The following emails are in chronological order. The last two were sent to me within a matter of minutes. From what I can decipher, Kenric is telling me that the stickers are only for special Cusco modded cars... and that if one of us were to have such a car and could prove it that we would be able to acquire this sticker. I could email him to try to clarify this matter, but for now I choose to share with my Nabisco brothers and sisters. Thus, the "Bad A$$ Cusco Sticker" Blog:

Hello Bozzpower,I was looking for a Cusco sticker that was spotted on a Cusco Subaru at the JGTC in Southern California this past weekend. The attached file is a picture of the sticker. Me and quite a few of my Suby friends would love to have this. Do you know where to get it?? Thanks

./James

RESPONSE #1:

hello there!

sorry to get back to you so late, cusco was closed in japan due to the winter holidays....

i believe you were asking for the special cusco decal that had the late mr. kase, the previous president of cusco/carrosser on it......

we have checked with them and have now confirmed that this particular sticker is a speical decal and not to be given out to any retail or wholesale cusotmers....it is only made for special cusco cars only......sorry for the bad news......

if you need any other cusco decals, we will be more then happy to provide you with them...just not this particular speical designed one due to it's unique nature of the meanign of the decal.......

please let us know if we can be of any further assistance and if you have any other questions for us.........

please duely note our new address, phone and fax below for your reference and record keeping......

thank you!

RESPONSE #2 (a few minutes later...the one that threw me off):

hello there agian!

thank you for checking back with us again on the decal matter....

yes, we have got some here and cusco is sending us some, but we have special instructions on these decals after checking with cusco/carrosser on it.....as we have sent you a mail previously stating so, so please read that mail and let us know what we can do for you further......

please let us know if we can be of any further assistance and if you have any other questions for us.........

please duely note our new address, phone and fax below for your reference and record keeping......

thank you!

I'm not quite sure what to make of th^at. Either way it looks like we found the sticker. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with this guy... but if you get a hold of the stickers on your own just don't leave me out to dry. Peace ya'll!

Nice sticker. Don't know if I'd want it on my car, but as a special collectable yeah. When I was at JGTC I saw a really nice sticker on the Cusco road car that was at the Cusco/Nukabe booth. I believe it was on the side rear window area; it was a silver sticker that said "cusco" with an outline of the side view of the car. Don't have any pictures though.

I remember that sticker! That would be very cool to have as a tribute, but it sounds like they're not parting out with them any time soon though. Only cusco special cars... well mine is special(to me anyway), and I have 6 cusco parts on it .

it's a very nice sticker, indeed. I can see why it needs to remain exclusive though, as it is more a memorial than an adornment.

It's nice to have the full story now, though.

Our Asian correspondent, Shuji (Shumai_boi) is in Japan now. He should get back to us about those stickers. Couple weeks ago, my friend's friend drove his Sentra V-Spec and has that sticker on his window... I was like He told me his friend from Japan got it for him from Tokyu Auto Salon last year, and he has a pair of Cusco racing gloves. I told him I will jack it from him if he isn't looking, it should stay on our cars instead

If they were giving them out at Tokyo Auto Salon, then that's like passing them out at SEMA or something. Especially if that guy had it on his sentra!

about 10% of the way into it I got REALLY bored of it... so most of the curved lines turned into faceted lines

Hi Kenric,So what exactly are the "special instructions" for the stickers? I am still a little unclear on wheather or not I can purchase some from you. Can you please clairify what you mean? Thanks so much!

./James

-------------------------------------------------------------

RESPONSE:

hello there!

thank you for your email back to us here....

sorry to have confused you, i had meant that cusco had special instructions to us to ask us to NOT give away NOR sell this decal to ANYBODY........we can only use on our shop vehicles for racing purpose and show purpose...........as it is a special decal made in memory of the just passed president of cusco.......so we were asked to use on our special cusco related cars only from our office........

i hope this makes sense now to you....sorry...but any other kind we can help you get and give to you....just not this special one......

please let us know if we can be of any further assistance and if you have any other questions for us.........

please duely note our new address, phone and fax below for your reference and record keeping......

thank you!

Looks like a no-go peeps. Sorry. I know that it's a tribute sticker and all... but that does not chage the fact that it's just a sticker. Whatever... I'll try else where next week or sumpth'n. Peace Ya'll, and have a good weekend!

Damn it !!
I was working on this as a secret project to surprise everyone !! aaargh !!
These took me about 1 week to finish, I did it during breaks at the office

DETAIL

The one on the left is "3 colors" the right is "5 colors"
I have high resolution images .

Here's the info:
Clear vinyl stickers - not cheap .... minimum quantities start at about 125 and the more colors you have the more expensive - I got a couple of quotes (see below).

I was going to have them made until I got the quotes $260 + yikes !
I thought about running a thread asking people if they wanted to pitch in... but didn't think many would be interested and also I didn't want to have them made and end up with poor quality stickers. - I've never had any custom stickers made and have no experience with materials or shops so that poses a risk!
Each sticker would be about $2 - $2.10 , also there might be "legal" issues as in "copyright" - of course this is not for profit but out of Subaru-Cusco aficionado spirit !

Here are the quotes:

Hi Roland,
thank you for your inquiry.
For 125ct 5x3.75 with three standard colors on clear vinyl comes to $263.00
For 125ct 4.5x3.5 with three standard colors on clear vinyl comes to $263.00
For 125ct 4x3 with three standard colors on clear comes to $235.00

Thank you,
Karen R.

If ANYONE has a hook up with a local sticker shop ..... I have the drawing completed
1600x1200 resolution (can make it higher if necessary - but that should be good enough)

I know what you mean - it's ALOT of work ! It did take me alot of hours as I tried to get all the details - I did add a few changes like the wheel pattern and "Cusco" graphics....

I was even contemplating an idea to use this sticker to COLLECT DONATIONS for the tsunami victims... I was gonna hve them made and ask people to donate $5 - $10 and from all the $ I was going to cover costs as mucha as possible (putting some $$ of my own - perhaps $40 - $50 ) and rest send it as donation on behalf of NASIOC..... but I'm not good for organizing stuff like that... it was just an idea....

Wow Roland... that's some good stuff. I wouldn't mind pitching in for the stickers. Would we be stepping on anyone's toes by getting these done? I would hate to have Cusco pissed at us . They sounds so adamant about not giving these stickers out...

I wouldn't get these stickers made...

Since if cusco doesn't want to see it on customer cars there has to be a big reason. I think this sticker should just stay within the cusco race/sponsored cars, and not be in the general public. Mainly because if it gets out there a bandwagon may follow and the decal will lose it's meaning.

Find another sticker to put on and just leave this one alone.

They would probably get pissed off... It is their "intellectual" property afterall... but then again.... I've seen lots of fake/counterfit stuff on eBay (other brand names) - we would not do it for profit - but from pure Cusco-fan admiration!!

Maybe we can come up with something a little different, but not the exact same sticker...just for us Cusco fans out there. I just feel like we gotta respect their wishes, and leave it alone... like Drew said.

Props to jimmijames and engineerx, you did a pretty good job replicating the graphics. I am too lazy, otherwise I will make one with vector graphics using Illustrator. That way it can be blown up to any size I want
