Default Anyone else's WRX sound like its about to die out before it starts up?

Ive had my WRX for about 8 months now. Within the last 2 months or so I've begun noticing that whenever i start the car it starts up funny. When i turn the key, the engine fires up but then sorta of "dips," then gets going normally. It doesnt start up in a smooth motion because during startup theres a point where it seems like its about to die out but then gets going just fine. i think this usually happens when the car hasnt been driven for a few hours; when its cold. (my engine is stock)

Anyone else have this prob? what could it be?

thats normal.... it goes up then dips to about 300 RPM then goes back to 1k..

I have a stg4+ car and it does this every time i start up.. sometimes not as dramatic but it does it... also, do you have a bov? a poorly tuned bov will cause idle/stalling problems like the ones you've described above. The car cranks up and dips below 500RPM and it sputters and kicks back up to 1k then goes down and will eventually die out.

mine used to do this, and then I just tried letting the fuel pump prime a second or two longer and no more issues. You can hear the pump prime when you turn the key all the way to on and leave it there for a second before cranking it... seemed to cure the problem for me.

I let the fuel pump prime as well. It starts up quick in the cold but when its warm, it feels like it struggles more to start. Just turn the key and start putting your seat bellt on and by the time your done, it should be primed and then start.

This makes sense if you think about it. When warm all metal parts in the engine are fully expanded and will increase the amount of cranking amps needed from the battery to turn the starter to get the pistons moving. When everything is cold there is less compression and more blow by so the battery does not need to supply as many cranking amps to get the car started.

Nope. My WRX starts 2 cranks when cold, 3 cranks when warm, every single time without fail. No dip.
