Just moved to Sugar House yesterday...liking it so far. I came to Utah from Buffalo about 5 months ago to work. Just getting used to the holier than thou beer laws. If you see a blue rex wagon rolling around that's me...

There's a decent sized group of Subaru guys at all the SCCA auto-x's. I think most of them hang out together at other points in time also. I'm sure quite a few of us are going to Wendover this coming weekend for the Pro-solo. Are you an SCCA member?

No, but I have thoght of it many times. The only thing is is that I have a SUS (sport utility sedan ) so I don't want to race in anything other than the pro rally and even then it will beat my car up.

Unless I was to drop it, which would defeat the purpose of the extra ground clearance. Is there a special class which I can enter or something?

There's a guy that's had a Legacy Outback wagon at a few of the races - he raced in G-stock. Maybe you should get some height-adjustable DMS coilovers so you can drop it for the auto-x and raise it for the rallies

Do you go to the U? I've only ever seen 1 SUS in UT; it was in a parking lot on campus a few times (near the MEB and EMCB)

Another Legacy owner

White-boy, %100 ;D

They guy with the Outback actually does very good, and with the lower weight of the SUS, you'd probably do pretty good if you wanted to give it a try.

There's an autocross on the 22nd at the eCenter in West Valley. If you can't make it to the ProSolo, by all means come out to the Solo II.

Thumbs up

I have seen a Subaru in Sugarhouse with New York plates, but it was a 2001 RS, not a WRX. I have seen a few SUS's around, mostly driving down 7th East.

Definitely come out to the race at the E-Center on the 22nd. The E-Center is a great location. The tracks are usually about 3/4 mile long. And typical run time is about 70 seconds.

Wendover will be an incredible event, but it is not a good place to get a first experience at. There is very tough competition and no time for people to help you out much.

Where can I get the DMS coilovers?

Also I live where there isn't a whole lotta subarus most are on the east side or in Park City, I'm in Taylorsville. In fact I have had the cart for over a year and I have seen about ten SUS's total some may have even been the same car, they only made 3800.

I do plan on going to the U. But for now I am going to start at the community college this fall or winter.

Question

Oh yeah. where is the one in wendover? I think I want to just go out and watch that one. If I sent in my application today or tommorow could I race in the one at the e-center? But I do need those coilovers to so that might take awhile to get those.

I actually went to Taylorsville High. One of the guys we race with is a teacher there too. He isn't a Subaru guy, but he is a hell of a driver and pretty cool too.

The Wendover race is at the airport on the East end of the old runway next to the Enola Gay hanger. I will be out there at 8:00 Friday morning for the race school, but races don't actually start until Saturday at 9:00.

You don't have to be a member to race at the E-Center event. But it will cost you $25 if you aren't a member and only $15 if you are. If you are under 26 and want to join the SCCA, get the speedfreaks membership, it is only $25 and gets you everything the normal membership does. They call the STS class "Subaru Touring" because there is so many of us in that class. And it looks like a couple of the Boise guys might be coming down to play again.

Hey dont forget about me. It was nice of you to chase me down the other night ScoobySlack. Its sucks you left before we had a chance to hang out. Anywho, i am still running around with my bike rack on the roof, with Oregon plates (2001 RS sedan, black) working at the Patagonia Outlet for now.

When is the next local subie meet? We dont have to wait until the next rally cross. I have Taxi 2 on DVD and VCD if anyone wants to get pizza and beer one night. Except I live in Memory Grove, parking is kinda scarce.

I keep seeing a nice black coupe over in my neighborhood, who is that? It is here alot, so you must live close by.

Oh yeah....anyone get any hail damage tonite? I fear tommorrow mornings encounter with the car. I hope it wasnt bad enough to strip paint off.

Later,
Justin

Sweet I think I'll come out. Not sure if I'll race though I looked at the price of those coilovers and there $4500 . I'm pretty sure I will have sunday off atleast. Sometimes I have to work on weekends. I guess I'll see how the other outback runs and go from there. I guess I am just wondering how much body roll I would get?

Jeff

P.S. I went to Kearns High, No jokes please.
