Default Help needed! strange problem

Hi I own A 1992 SVX and under WOT after it shifts the car will hit a huge dead spot and then start accelerating again. Although you can almost floor it and it wont happen is it something to do with the TPS

any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Sounds like a fuel delivery problem. I would use some high test detergent gas, and maybe get some of that injector cleaner additive. When was the last time you changed out the fuel filter? Might want to check that too.

Keep in mind these are all just guess's. I have never seen a SVX let alone work/own/drive one.

Has it always done that? Or, did it start doing this recently?

00/01 RS does that. At least mine does. As you step on the gas to full throttle, it feels like the car loses power for a split second and accelerates.

We came to a conclusion that it happens because of the fuel map in our engines. I've been looking at the A/F meter and stuff, but all I see is "rich" at WOT.

Well I have to stick by my original theroy. Yes, as you stomp on it, it will get gas, it's when you go from no/let off gas (for shifting) and then go back to full wot that you see the hesitation. That is because the fule is getting full stream through whatever blockage, and then you let off and the blackage resettles and then as you stomp on it, it has to get by that blaockage again to get back in the "grove".

Well whenever you figure it out, please let us/me know. I am very curious.

BTW, I had this exact problem on two diff cars. One had to have the carb rebuilt and the other was a bad fuel filter.

Default update

Okay now I know something is jacked it will do it if I put it in manually mode and shift at 3K RPM it still does it. Also it does it bad I mean you can be 2 car lengths ahead at the end of first gear and by the time the car starts accelerating youll be 3-4 car lengths behind just because of this problem

BTW it didn't always do it I was racing someone one day it happend I lost the race and its happend ever since

Has your mileage gon down? Maybe you have a leak in the fuel line? Due to extreme pressue from the race?

Could be a valve problem. Do a compression check.

Question

is your tranny slipping?

i know SVX's and their tranny's...
how many miles are on yours?

are you hearing anything at all or is their dead silence and massive hesitation...?

Bothered to check the brand of gas your putting in? The symptoms you describe sound a lot like detonation of some sort and the ECU is yanking your timing. Probably as someone else said, a fuel problem. How many miles on your fuel filter? Do you always put in the best gas you has availible? What kind of spark plugs do you use?

In order to properly diagnose this kind of issue, we would need to know any modifications you have done to your car.
