Default Tuner Pro showing "Err"

Ok so i read the entire manual and i know kinda whats going on. I was able to do a free-air calibration and got a value of 265. Then later when i go to prime the fuel rails checking for leaks, my tuner says Err. I've had the thing for about a year and never had a problem with it. Well the "desktop" thing shows next to sensor "malfunction". The manual says that its either disconnected or not working. How could it be not working if i just did a free-air calibration with it a few minutes earlier? Also I am certain that its connected. I've never damaged it.

I figured that it was showing "Err" because it was still dangling in free air and the tuner assumes that its not working. It will actually show >25:1 for a few seconds before saying err. If this is normal i'd like to know.

Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions.

Jeff

The best way to check on the type of error is to use your laptop to see what the Tuner has reported.

One cause can be that the sensor hasn't fully reached its operating temperature. In this case you should find that after starting the car the fault should clear.

Thanks, Pete. Its probably because its still dangling in the air and isnt being heated up by the exhaust.

i believe that jeff's problem was a dodgy wire in the harness near the connector.

perhaps he can chime in here?

yea that was the problem. I opened the connector and everything looked fine.

When the wires are pushed sharply to one side(towards left of tuner, when looking at it from the front) it works but when the wires(3 cables) are allowed to come strait away from the tuner, it will show Err. So rather than fix it i just made it so they come out and bend sharply to the left all the time.

problem solved... in order to get the harness through the firewall i had to removef the metal around the D connector (i sure wish that was in the manual but that is another story...) one of the pins worked its way out ever so slightly.

The latest Tuner cables have a smaller inline connector to facilitate passing the cable through the firewall.
