I'd be scared to see how much that APS system costs after seeing how much their subaru stuff costs.

I still think that kit is stupid. I read the article, but that is still far more piping than is necessary, and it's still gonna be laggier, and it's still going to weigh more, and it's putting the turbo in harms way.
these guys http://www.turbochargedpower.com/ aka HP-performance have a far better kit for the ls1, they only have the vette one on their site, but they have done camaros. For the vette the turbos sit inside the fenders, and the whole system is setup so damned well it's unreal. And it's $5200 bucks, which isn't bad at all. ![]() ![]() |

I saw that 2GG episode w/my Dad and I thought that was waaaaaaay too much piping for a turbo set up. I guess it's different...

While the STS kit does look strange and goes against all that Subaru owners think is correct, it works and makes big power for any ls1 powered car or truck.
There are a lot of truck owners that are picking up the kit and making great gains on the dyno and the track. I'd still rather have a Radix Magna charger ![]() |

Thing people forget is peak numbers don't mean as much as area under the curve.

"We baselined the stock '02 at L.A. Performance Division for a grand total of 313 rear-wheel horsepower. After installing the system and going back onto the same dyno, we produced 463 horsepower and 511 pound feet of torque the very next day."

all truth be told it has about the same amount to pipes as a subaru fmic kit. and it works exceptionaly well. lag is minimal and just like the article says, it does lots of long smokey burnouts with the torq it pushes.
when the prototypes came out last year the local ricers were scraching their heads because they couldnt figure out why their turbo civics were loosing to comaros with "cold air intakes" that they would usualy beat. most recently they put one on an itr and blew it up, rebuilt the motor for a turbo and it put down over 300 on a mustan dyno at modern garage (next door to cobb tuning) |

I saw a trans am with an ls1 with a rear mounted turbo a few months ago.
I think it was a kit similar to this one. The kit was insane looking, you could pop the hood and not really notice anything was up. The turbo wasn't that big but it spooled nicely and sounded really good. I would think the oil return line would be a pain to run but he said it wasn't bad. It wasn't intercooled. |
