does getting regular maintenance work done by shops other than subaru's void any warranties?

No, it doesn't. As long as the scheduled maintenance gets done, your warranty is intact. Failure completely to adhere to the maintenance schedule as listed in your owner's manual, however, can be grounds for denial.
