Default WRX Sti - US-spec vs. CND-spec?

Can someone tell me what's the difference between US and Canadian STi cars?

I know that US car comes with Xenon, but not the Canadian but not sure about other things.

Thnx

IIRC the canadian has heated seats, and the pass through in the rear seats, the frame desing of the USDM and CANDM are differnt too the US followin the JDM frame and the CANDM not sure but ti hinkit follows more of a WRX frame, thats why USDM STi's can bolt up the spec c IC water cooler tank while the canadian wont

The JDM spec-c intercooler tank is behind the rear seat and as such won't work with the pass thru.

FWIW
USDM cars have the large Bumper beam like ours. The bumper beam is a Canadian requirement. Sorry but your wrong on the frames. As for the EVO which doesn't have the required Canadian spec bumper because of the FMIC we will never see it.

The reason we don't get HID's is because SOC doesn't have in place a recycling program for the mercury in the lights.

Lastly the speedo is different and SOC jacked the price 10k canadian over the US

Thanks... I am new to Subaru, can someone explain to me what's JDM, CANDM?

Also, the spec C intercooler?

I am considering maybe importing a US car into Canada, as it's cheaper over there and also it has HID. Do the bumpers have to be replaced when imported? What other changes are necessary if any?

Thnx

JDM = Japanese Domestic Market
CADM = Canadian Domestic market

the Spec C is a no frills model sold in japan with more agresive suspension and very few creature comforts, along with a few other fram changes aswell. one of the differances is that the Spec C has a bigger resevoir wich is mounted in the trunk along the back of the rear seats

while the American and canadian one have the tank in the passenger side Fender...

Rick,

Can you cite your source on the "frame differences"? Never heard it before, and I don't believe any new age Impreza has a model specific frame change.

When the sti's first came out a few years ago, it was about equal with the dollar. A few years before that, buyers from the states were coming up here to purcahse wrx's because they were cheaper. It's how the dollar goes up and down. Nothing you can really do about it.

well, the dollar has changed ofcourse but the 2005 price difference is just ridicolous... in 2004, the Canadian model at least had stereo, speakers, heated seats, and rear entry to US car... they US has more options now, SPECIALLY HID and are cheaper!

Even back then, we were paying more than we should have.

Another question... are the front seats different between the two? Apart from heated seat of CND version, some say that American seats are not as supportive as they make it bigger to fit bigger people, is that true?

Also, I dont see any extra options offered in Canada, but the US one you can get these optional accessories:

- Fog Lamp Kit
- Security System Upgrade Kit
- Armrest Extension
- Auto-Dimming Mirror/Compass w/Homelink
- Perf Gauge Pack - Turbo Boost, Oil Temp, Volts
- Short Throw Shifter, 6 M/T - STI
- Titanium Shift Knob, 6 M/T - STI

Can these be added to Canadian car through dealers?

Thnx

Are those an option that is added to the vehicle or they're additions? I just dont see any options offered on the Subaru.ca website, so I thought those optional equipment are not offered in Canada.

the car comes with the now standrard Radio and speakers, but you can buy an upgraded speaker system to replace the factory equipment.

The Subaru canada websites lacks a heck-of-alot of stuff but yeah you can get it as optional equipment
