Default getting knock

I was just out doing some logs on my ancient laptop. I have been getting knock counts as I am getting off the throttle. Why is this?? I can't post a log cause my laptop is to old. But it looks some thing like this:
4866, +11.2, 4.5, 100, 70 00, rich, +20.7 69.0, +14.5
4894, +15.9, 4.5, 100, 100 00, rich, +20.8 62.0, +14.1
4997, +19.2, 4.5, 96, 100 00, rich, +22.0 59.0, +14.2
4990, +20.4, 4.4, 45, 00 08, rich, +22.7 50.0, ECU
4761, +14.9, 3.8, 0, 00 08, 12.7, +8.8 12.0 ECU
4775, + 6.7, 3.3, 0, 00 00 lean, +8.7 12.0 ECU

I know there is plenty of fuel. I just had the fuel tuned with a wideband. I had to borrow a sensor the other day, mine went bad. It looks to me the boost is still coming on as I let out the throttle. Which is causing the ecu to take over control of timing and the boost is still up causing it to knock cause the timing is to high. Am I on the right path or is something else the problem.

I am running a SBR GT30-11 with all supporting mods. Also a ej257 w/ cp low compression pistons and stock wrx heads. Ofcourse the utec. Let me know if ant other info is needed.

TIA
Mike

Looks like what you said(to me). Ya might wanna do a search for "shift and knock" on here and wrxhackers. Ya might also wanna make sure that your bov is workin normally, but I don't really think that's the problem.

Do you have your timing mapped down to the 10% columns? Kinda hard to tell from above. Post more data and it'll be easier to help. As long as boost pressure is receognized by UTEC it'll be in one of the 0-100% column. What's the rest of your param settings in UTEC? OLF on or off? CLB on? What else?

Default well...

i have seen this problem a few times...

i added +2 on fuel above 6500 rpm, to about 7500 rpm on my sti, and set the timing to 18 degrees, seem to fix it just fine...

we are dynoing sat morning so ill see the afr's again then.

my 0% column is all ECU. So you are saying I should having timing in the map from 4K up? Sounds like it might cure the problem. I will give it a try. Also heading back to the dyno this saturday. I went the other day and put down 308whp 314tq at 18-20psi. AFR's were high 10's. Timing was at 14 at peak tq. Max was 19 degrees. I am noticing alot of guys running there cars alot leaner. I know it has to do with the efficency of the turbo. I have seen a few maps tuned to mid 11 AFR's with the same turbo as mine. Would this be a good target to shoot after on pump? Also whats the max timing you guys are running on pump gas.

I used to run about 20 degrees uptop, but I have a wrx with a much smaller turbo then you run. The a/f ratio is very debateable. What do you mean when you say "low compression pistons"? How low? If you post your map(with all the simbles in it and what not, like the whole map...), I'll show ya what I'd do with the timing map. If you adjust the timing in the 0% column, make sure to watch your egt gauge while in the rpm ranges where the timing's locked. I've never really had a problem with the egt's going to high(in those areas), but it could happen. Here's a little example of a timing map I used to use, just so ya all know what I was talkin about with puting timing in the 0% column. Note how there are nice smooth transitions everywhere in the map to try and avoid big jumps in timing.

Code:
Timing Map

That's what tuning is all about! You push it close to the limits where you're maximizing power and then pull it back a little (safety) once you've found that sweet spot. Your car will perform differently than ours and others. It depends on more than just the turbo, IC, etc etc. Lean it out, advance timing, and add boost to the point where you're not knocking. That'll make power and be safe.
