Default Selling a car that doesn't run - how to sell?

Hi all. I have an old ('83) RX-t that I'll be selling soon.

If a car doesn't run and you want to sell it, how do you? I looked on the DMV website and says that if you sell a car, it has to have a smog check.
It doesn't say anything about selling a "registered non-operational" car, though.

Anyone do this before? Any tips?

My RX-7 does run, but If it doesn't pass smog I still want to be able to sell it to someone for parts, etc.

Thanks for any help!

i just sold my civic. i couldnt smog it. what i did, was just went through the normal car sale thing through the dmv. and made a seperate document myself saying i am selling the car "as is". and it was good enough. didnt run into any problems. plus, if you sell the car not running, and the other party knows is isnt running, it is their problem to get it running. i mean they knew it was running when they bought it, just make sure you turn in the release of liablility really quick. hope that was a little helpful.

Tax break will be the easiest and best. That commercial with the kid on the swing right?

Ask them why they play their commercials so loud....

If you just take the standard deduction on your tax return and do not itemize your deductions, you will NOT get a tax break.

Thanks for the info...it's not really worth the tax break. It's probably worth enough to pay for part of an AccessPort or Valentine1.

I'm going to charge the battery tomorrow and see if I can start it. It's got 198K miles on the original engine and it still pulls great (as great as a 1.2L carb rotary can)

Real question is:
"Where can I pass smog?"
Last place I knew was the 76 station near anza/190th (southbay area) but the guy is gone. I'd be interested too! You may want to post on craigslist or recycler to find a buyer.
